Match Day Thread Leicester vs Southampton 02/09/2016 KO 2:15pm

Can I have a medal....it was a whole minute and I stuck with it to the end....so proud.

 

We're up next on Soccer Saturday...wonder how much will be Leicester and how much will be us.

Cannot complain...spent good time on Saints with interviews and match coverage. Merson reckons we will have a good season. Talked at length about Romeu and Tadic....said Romeu had a great game in Israel. Interview with JWP (who no longer looks twelve....nearer to ten).....he says Puel is a fun manager who is passionate and likes to join in training and has scored a few goals.

 

Merson also said if Tadic Carries on playing like that he will be house hunting in Liverpool soon

 

Oh dear, oh dear. I'm agreeing with him. That feels slightly nauseating. Said the other evening that Romeu was the best player on the pitch. And Tadic changed the game, like flicking a switch, when he came on.

 

Was listening a little earlier to the Swansea - Liverpool match. I might as well have put Saints archive commentary over it. Turned it off.

 

TBF, he was joking.

 

Funnily enough I am also watching the game with the sound off, I can't stand sky's love in with Klopp....it's embarrassing.

 

I do think his tongue was in his cheek when he said it.

 

Yes, I've heard about that. Just eaten a bit too much chocolate, and the thought of Klopp and Sky is making me want to stick my head down the basin.

 

Bonus...already had Saints beating WHU in our review...now we are seeing it again in West Ham's review.

Todays results seem favourable, 3 points tomorrow would make things look a lot better.

 

I've just realised with slight horror that at the end of this season Oriol goes into his last contract year! Holy **** SFC SIGN HIM UP!!!!!!

 

Who would have thought, when that photo was taken, that just a few years later Morgan would be third-choice DM and hardly picked even on the bench, whereas Jack would be a Premier League team captain?

I've been watching Saints matches for 12 years with a Serbian commentary and the best part is that they don't go on about Man Utd, Chelsea or Liverpool whilst commentating, they stick to the match. You only need a few words of Serbian to follow the game:

Goal kick – goal out
Corner - corner
Chance – priliku
Miss – promasaj
How did Long miss that? - Kako Longa to promaklo?
Tackle – intervencija
Lost the ball - izgubio loptu

 

Tbf, the UK commentators don't usually go on about glamour teams, while covering a Saints match, either. Unless the glamour team is playing Saints. Then again, I say usually. Sadly, It isn't always.

I'm beginning to love Italian commentators. 1] Because the lingo is becoming more familiar at last, and 2] because they have this habit of accelerating their words to a remarkable rate the more excited they get. So the better I get at my own second language, the better I can catch the drift. It's a useful learning curve.
