If Southgate is looking to be the next manager then his first squad leaves a lot to be desired. How on earth can you pick Glen Johnson as a full back as the man is as much an International as I am. Falling back onto the players who were useless at the World Cup and prior to it.
Have to say I for one won't be bothered to watch.

Dont think Johnson will play anyway unless all other defenders are injured. Looking at the squad though its easy to pick a defence and attack but am having big trouble with a midfield.
    Would probably go:
    Forster
    Walker
    Smalling
    Stones
    Rose
    Alli
    Lingard
    Dier
    Henderson
    Sturridge
    Rashford
Dont like Henderson but we have too many attacking midfielders in that squad.

It's the weakest England squad I've looked at in ages.

I don't think it matters who the Manager is, the players simply aren't good enough to compete with top international sides.

Sure, there is individual talent there, but they all lack mental fortitude and intelligence.

Pretty sure I could run the England team and get results as good as Southgate - possibly the most dull appointment in history - and i'm not even kidding.

I've said it before and Jakarta has it right, it's the midfield that's the let down. Lots of players who do it occasionally or who have promise but few/none who are leaders and real class. And managers who don't have the balls to play (or even select) unfashionable players like Drinkwater.
