That miss sums us up as an attacking side, non existent... Where have we lost it all.. We need to change as a club, otherwise the only way is down.
Unlucky. The best team won. Swansea trying to do a Liverpool in the first half but used ALL their energy. Why try and copy the Liverpool machine with the players you have?
thing is Sky, you are not a particularly good side, top 6 but def not top 3 (I maybe proved wrong and hope I am), however you won, we should have equalized right at the end and didn't
Not fit enough ! 95℅ fr effort first half but had little left 2 nd ! But only lost it by a stupid pen so the temporary top teams aint all that really are they !
one point we always make re our strikers is the service they don't get and then when, on the odd occasion, HE, gets one, it is butchered. our transfer policy is abysmal, still have rangel, routledge britton and dyer, no more comments re Fer, perhaps a new pay system is required, base pay and bonus for a win or draw because some were basically going through the motions in the second half, were we not FER. I am now going to have a $1000 bet we are going down, I hope I can get evens
Barrow should have blasted that ball away. Liverpool players all a bunch of pansies falling over a gust of wind. Really frustrated by that game. Baston should have scored at least one of his two chances and Hoorn WTF was that!!!
If West Ham win their game then we will drop into the bottom 3, and with an International break it looks like Franco is history.............
Sitting in the car park. Decent first half but failing to capitalize on our chances was always likely to come back on bite us on the bum..... Now did the players play well in that first half because of the Manager or because they were up against a big club..... Second half we were overrun - and we certainly felt that we regressed further with Leon's substitution. Amat & Rangel both played well. Leon was Leon, Gylfi was better but I still feel he is wasted when not in his usual position. Routledge was poor throughout and Barrow was poor during his cameo - his mistake "created" the penalty.. Borja was lively - if only he'd nailed that header in the first half ..... and then there was VDH's last minute shocking miss... So 7 games 4 pts & Arsenal away next....
We had absolutely no attack. Barrow, as with Routledge, was double teamed, sometimes tripled, because defenders knew that we couldn't attack from anywhere. The formation and tactics imposed on the team meant that when they had to go hunt for a goal the system they had to play within provided absolutely no threat on the left, less up the middle and so they had nowhere to go. Still, despite this, the very good players we have managed to somehow carve out guilt edged chances and could have won a hard earned point from the match. Some may be all confused by this but just think on a bit. The players managed to carve out chances because they are good players and not because of the stifling system they had to play in. If they played in a balanced system where there were attacking options and threats on both flanks and up the middle I'm sure they would carve out even more opportunities. With this in mind before the Guidolin apologists come on to whinge and whiny about how we COULD have won this match, think again because in reality we SHOULD have won this match. Positives Ok performance by the team as a whole despite being made to play in a limiting system. Borja looked great for 60mins before he ran out of breath, where was McBurnie. Defense looked pretty solid and will only get better. Pressure on owners to get a manager in who is at least at the same standard as the players. The players deserve to have a worthy manager with tactical nous and good game awareness. Negatives Read posts from August onward, they haven't changed
A few thoughts... I said at the start of the season that this was probably our weakest squad since promotion and I think that's now plainly obvious. We've never been prolific at creating that many chances but up popped Michu, up popped Bony, up popped Ayew who were all great at taking the limited ones on offer. Baston may turn out to be like them I don't know but he looked very, very ring-rusty to me and that profligacy cost us the game even though he did well setting up the goal. Time will tell. Liverpool went up a notch second half (the sure sign of a good manager's team talk at half time) and we couldn't match them, but again I come back to lack of quality. VDH's miss was shocking at this level, and can someone (Guidolin - sorry but I'm looking at you) PLEASE tell our defenders to stop hacking the ball away in defence thus giving the ball back to the opposition. Neither Martinez, Rodgers nor Laudrup would have stood for that ****. When the other team is in the ascendancy you KEEP THE ****ING BALL!! This also applies to throw-ins where our players seem to love giving away possession season after season. Lastly, I agree with someone else who's pointed out that we have played well again in parts but come away with bugger all. The organisation we showed first half completely evaporated in the second but that was in part due to Liverpool moving the ball a lot quicker. No disgrace losing to a very good side and again the effort was certainly there today, but I think my initial assessment about our lack of quality this season is proving to be true. It's plainly obvious that our reluctance to spend good money in the Summer is coming home to roost.
Borja has been useless so far this season but could click. TBF you don't hoof out of defence as much as other teams.
