I think Phelan's done a decent, steady job so far under testing circumstances. All in all, City are much higher in the league and have a higher points total than I imagined pre-season. But I must admit, I'd be very surprised if another Premier League club offered him a job as manager, whatever he achieves with us, during this season. I think he's done enough to deserve a crack at the job, but perhaps not necessarily deserving a long contract: just affirmation. Personally, I doubt that he'll end up staying with us - he's been royally messed around - I think he'll end up managing in the Championship (with another club) later this season or next.
he wants to be managing in the PL with the big boys, he has that chance with us. He just has to be patient with AA, thats all. I cant see him passing up on that chance to go and manage in the chumpionship. it really does not matter on his job title. he is still gonna be our manager, no matter what he is called.
Feel for MP as I think that he's going to end up walking, the Allams are playing for time till the sale goes through if it goes through, I think they have no intention of making MP the permanent manager, I wouldn't be all that surprise if they already told the buying consortium, that its there call, all this moving the goal post **** is designed to piss MP off and hopefully make him walk or buy time. edit just as a matter of interest have the Allams ever publicly state that they want MP as the manager.
All of this really is becoming a pantomime. A contract of sorts should have been arranged to offer some stability to the club, especially as we head into a crucial part of the season with the fixtures we have. The Allams are their own worst enemy in this as any manager worth their salt would be put off by their faffing about with contract agreements.
I don't quite think the Allams are dung this to make MP walk, if they wanted to do that they could simply say "we are not offering you anything". Reality the club us in limbo, and as things develop with each so called interested party the club's stance will change. I would imagine: The Allams want to keep MP (he would be cheap) Group 1 (who failed test) possibly want MP others are either undecided or don't want him. hence until an owner is found, or not, a firm contract offer is unlikely
OH NO! IF MP'S JOB NAME IS CHANGED, HISTORY WILL CHANGE, HE WILL NO LONGER BE OUR MANAGER AND THE WORLD WILL IMPLODE! <smirk>
Uncertainty over the takeover have everything to do with MP's contract. The Allams are biding their time knowing Phelan is unlikely to have other offers. They'll do this because they don't want to sell on the club with a risky manager in place so they're messing around for as long as possible seeing if he does a good job. Unfortunately, the Allams never seem to use advisors which might help them in football-related issues.
I beg to differ. he can only work to his job title. eg. if he was given the title as toilet cleaner, he wouldnt be managing the team would he? and Im the div? oh that was irony? I get you now
Disagree, If the new owners want their own manager they would just pay off the current one and appoint their own man. The Allams are probably using the excuse of the takeover. ( its not happening any time soon anyway IMO )
Nothing dramatic at all. We have a couple of months were most of the games we play are against teams from around us; perfect opportunity to make sure we pick up points before a tough looking Christmas period and January/early Feb.
So the Allams are skimping on performance bonuses.. 12th position with the pre-season we had is unrealistic..
Absolute bollocks, he has been offered a 12 month rolling contract at the same rate and terms that SB had in the prem league last time, MP's agent wants 3 years minimum and wont budge Basic thing is the agent is a twat , they can only offer a 12 month rolling contract ( at a prem league wage manager wise) because anything long term will jeopordize any new owners as such source: Allams Lawyer 2 Sundays ago
Does anyone think a manager should be given a performance bonus for not being relegated? I know MP's circumstance if a tad bizarre, so leave him out of it.
