I don't think this match is a fork in the road really. Nobody is expecting us to win and we probably won't so there's nothing too much riding on it. However if we get absolutely mullered then Guidolin may well be told to fork off.
I agree but it's not that long ago that we were all expecting to beat any big side at home. and now nobody is confident on beating anyone on home games and that is how low we have dropped...
Dai, I am not sure about beat, but we certainly would give it a go and have the potential to get that shock (some will call it) result. I just think now we will go out at home and set up to hang on for a 0-0, then when we go 1 or 2 down we might have a go for it and get a consolation goal back.
More or less same line up that faced man city apart from Llorente Who's out with a minor rib injury. I'm not a big fan of the line up but if they can put on a display like the one against City then hopefully we can get something.
He's clueless. What is Routledge doing to justify a start and keep Barrow and montero on the bench? And why the **** are we wasting siggy out wide? How can he not see that even if the players played well last week that it's his tactics that ultimately failed us. The guy needs to go now.
I agree on Routledge. Can't see how he can keep Monty or Barrow out - both make things happen up front more effectively than him, and with Barrow he tracks back effectively too. He clearly prefers Routledge for some peculiar reason.
Is he wanting to get some consistency or something?? I don't know but you can't invite Liverpool to attack which is what it seems that we're doing. I'm reserving judgment until the game has started but why not play Montero and Barrow together? They are our most attacking players and can get us on the front foot early.
Sick of all the speculation surrounding Guidolin because its completely masking the truth. Up until two games ago we've played crap and we'd be lucky to have won a league two game playing the Udenese way. Last two games vs Citeh we reverted back to 'our way' and our performance vastly improved. Guidolin has to be given credit for this but its too little too late imo. Something was still missing in those games and we lost 5-2 on aggregate. Not good enough even with the improvement. We have to be so much better than we were against citeh even to get a point out of this game and to do this we needed to be able to exploit Liverpools Achilles heel, their defense. Yet Guidolins selection and formation has compromised our ability to attack even before a ball has been kicked. Again, no left winger, Barrow or Monterro who's not even on the bench. Siggy again has been neutered and shoved out of the way onto the wing and a far less talented and less able Fer has again been given center stage, taking Siggys position in midfield. Loriente scores his first goal and isn't on the bench, don't know if he's injured or ill? We could do this though if we pressure the ball and attack, but the formation suggests this wont be the case. Hope I'm wrong. Gary Neville is in town apparently, and met up with Huw this a.m. just what I was told and the source wasn't drunk when he told me so could well be true.
Loriente is injured, but my only gripe on todays selection, is Routs getting a start with his poor game of late, how the hell does he get in front of Barrow? Routledge is crap at the minute.............
