As someone who just spent 6 months living in Denmark (for work),

I would 100% take a leftie Corbyn (Modern Social Democrate) over any Tory or 'Tory light' right wing government. The poor has been squeezed for too long in the Uk and we need some balance.

People and the media like to make out Corbyn is some super leftie old school socialist but in reality he is a modern moderate leftie. Much like we see in Denmark and Norway.

Those countries are leading the way and we should follow those proven working models. From health, to transport to independent business Scandinavia is the example to follow.

Yes, but that wouldn't fit in with right wing members all they see is immigration and immigrants! Don't matter if they get screwed left, right and centre as long as the darkies aren't here!

If you say something often enough it will eventually be true to you.

It shows how deeply we are effected by old school paradigms. People will believe the Sun/Mail over actual evidence and data. That is a very sad thing.

Getting Kustard and Armchair excited doesn't count. I'm a bit foreign compared to them so can do no right.

Given he's just called me a twat, I doubt that!

I think he's just a reasonable person who dislikes Kustard's National Front agenda.

The funny thing is, Kustard's written English is so poor that I thought it was his second language until he started banging on about wanting rid of the foreigners and Muslims! <laugh>

Some people are so ingrained in their views and hatred it makes the rest of the population look bad! This does make you wonder has the education system failed or is the hatred that strong and ingrained from a young age that they cant see the difference between good and bad for the actual country!

Its not a lie to say there is no policy when you are talking about policy and then have an opinion when it becomes a local matter.
Anyway to imply that left wing Labour people lie more than other politicians is ridiculous. There is a clear way to tell that about people like Nigel Farage and Liam Fox: If people like them are talking they are lying

They don't learn their hatred at school, it's either passed down to them by their elders or they just choose to blame a group of people for their own failings.

Either that or he's a new poster who supports Man United, hates foreigners and can barely write in English.

There are no doubt some well meaning right wingers who believe that Public Schools and selection actually help the education system (although the evidence says otherwise). I am pretty sure that some of them worked out many years ago that having freely available education at a higher standard would leave mean there were fewer ignorant people around to vote for their self-serving policies.

Absolutely agree with this. Half my family are norwegian and the levels of support provided by the state to help families puts this country to shame.

It highlights the problem with Petes view that only the wealthy should be rewarded because they earned it and anyone who is poor is stupid. Take kids from a poor background and give them the same upbringing as a wealthy kid and you will find no difference in what they can achieve, the only thing holding them back is their poverty.

One of the main issues is labels.

People would rather blame someone with a different label than admit it's the 'British' Upper class that have ****ed over the working classes. The current recession has nothing to do with immigration.

Stop listening to The Sun - Murduck really does give a **** about any of you.

Look at the evidence Scandinavia has a working modern socialist system the clearly works and is something we could quite easily emulate for ourselves.

This is my main issue with a lot of the neo-liberal nonsense that we're currently being served up.
    It's demonstrably stupid and destructive.
Far too many people vote for things that they like to hear, rather than what's effective and efficient.

Our whole approach to healthcare, prisons, drugs, education and virtually everything else are lead by the media and greed.
The good of the population and the future of the country are being sacrificed to the will of some rich arseholes and some useful idiots.
Evidence-based politics needs to be embraced as soon as possible.

Grammar schools are needed rather than subjecting pupils to incompetent teachers

Changing a school's name to "Grammar" doesn't make the teachers better.
