Hurrah for the Blackshirts! Fascists and Fascism in Britain Between the Wars

In January 1934, Lord Rothermere wrote a long and enthusiastic article for the Daily Mail which began a campaign of support by the paper for Oswald Mosley's British Union of Fascists: its notorious headline was "Hurrah for the Blackshirts".

Is the decision they've made in the hope that the result of this case will give them the 'get out' that they're seeking? i.e. the Conservative manifesto pledge that if we exited the EU we'd remain within the single market? Seems an odd decision to appoint him, given his lack of experience at that level and who he's up against.

Hopefully the decision goes the right way and it'll mark the beginning of the end, of the economic uncertainty, and the withdrawal of the shotgun pointed at the country's foot.

It may have escaped your attention but Labour is a democratic party. It would be completely inappropriate for anyone to have a POLICY on deselecting MPs because that is a matter for the local constituency parties. So the two 'quotes' you have seem perfectly consistent and sensible to anyone who doesn't believe that political parties should be run like a dictatorship. And as a matter of fact nearly ALL MPs in ALL parties are going to have to go through some sort of selection process because under the Boundary Commission proposals there are very few unchanged seats.
I'm not sure I expect you to follow the above as you are already on record as being unable to tell the difference between satire and reality.

Why does Momentum have meetings immediately prior to Labour Party meetings? They can then decide on how they should all vote as a block. It doesn't seem very democratic to me.
Satire - the use of humour, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.

... you support the party that has historically received astronomical funding from the self interested 'big business' and the richest individual donors and has monopolised the press to the extent that even the 'working man's paper' The Sun has run headlines like the anti-Kinnock one on the eve of a general election ...and you bleat about things not being democratic ... what world do you live in Pete?

But that doesn't fit in with the "loony left" version of reality.
Remember, left wing people justify lies by saying that it will help them to achieve their main aim - make everybody poor

    :cheesy:

There are dozens if not hundreds of pages by now across three threads of many, including me, debating sensibly and anything that doesn't agree with Pete's xenophobic agenda is "loony lefty". It's impossible to debate with someone who i) has me on ignore and ii) isn't interested in hearing a different point of view.

If he wasn't such a bilious, ignorant and self-important person there would be no fun in mocking him.

Satire. A way of criticising people or ideas in a humorous way. Cambridge English Dictionary

As your rants were not humorous they do not qualify as satire just the musings of a disturbed mind. Get therapy before it is too late.

So what if they are - its basic democracy at work.
Why are you so afraid of it? According to you they are all 'loonies' and unelectable. Or perhaps, deep down, you think that a left-wing Labour party might gain power and actually do something about the things that affect most of the people in the country rather than looking after the rich.
