The lad hasn't really put a foot wrong. He's good in the air defensively, he works hard, immense pace, excellent attitude and a good assist vs Norwich. £5 MILLION? He has settled right into the team and makes superb runs. Best fullback since Debuchy by a mile!
5 million is nothing these days and this is the championship not the premier league, so how you can start saying best rb since debuchy is beyond me. Having said that debuchy was crap anyway.
For some reason our fans seem to always fall in love with the right back...Beye, Debuchy..Janmaat. None of them were particularly impressive. Best right back we've had in recent years was god damn Danny Simpson. Premier league medal winner he is. He was solid. Did his job, no thrills. Look at Debuchy, never got a game again. Nor did Beye. I'd be surprised if Janmaat gets into Watfords team consistently. All of them, overhyped.
Agreed, I thought that Danny Simpson was a bit unlucky to be let go (though he didn't help himself outside of the game IMO). My favourite defender of old was Barry Venison - yup, a right back.
He does look good so far! He's a bit short for my liking, but he's got a decent leap to compensate I suppose...
I liked him from the moment he bundled the ball into the goal against Derby. Not a spetacular strike but we just haven't seen enough of that sort of desire and quick thinking for quite some time.
Surely Anita's the best full back since Debuchy, actually Anita's better than Debuchy. Yedlin (auto-correct turns him into Teflon) is great going forward, but definitely I'm not sold on him yet, Norwich seemed to have plenty of space down the wings that he should've been closing down.
Too early to judge as we haven't seen him in different situations or against different opponents yet, but I do like his desire and work rate, plus his pace is a real asset. A good addition to the squad.
Yedlin looks like the best all round player though. Anita is an excellent defensive option, but Yedlin looks like he can hold his own defensively and is also a great attacking threat also.
I think he still has to prove himself defensively, but he's done enough to keep his place for now and keep Anita on the bench in my opinion.
Firstly, he's played about 5 games and most of them as a sub so let's not get ahead of ourselves. As for whether he's any good, I've said all along that in the Championship what will win you games is having players with a bit of pace and players with a bit of quality. Yedlin certainly has the former (and that can be the difference in games), but I'm yet to be convinced whether he has the quality. And even if he does, there's the step up to make if we are promoted. But, so far so good I guess.
