Brighton's new ground has been hyped up and talked about alot recently however seeing it on BBC south today a minute ago I'm really not convinced.

Ours was just 32 million to build however their's runs into the hundreds of millions, yet is smaller and doesnt have any seats in the corners. I think it is a poor ground on the inside and could have been so much better, although I am looking to Brighton away as anything beats the Withdean.

What are everyones thoughts on it? Over rated if you ask me.

Agreed, it looks nice and they're doing a good thing for the away supporters but I can't get over the cost of it. Ours was a bargain when you look at costs of stadiums!!

I think it does look fairly nice, but I don't understand why they're making so much noise about it, we had a better one built 10 years ago?

I can't agree. I think it looks quite spectacular and the cost will soon be forgotten unless the owner hands a bill to the club at a later date. The Withdean was by far the worst I visited during our stay in Div 1, so I'm looking forward to seeing the mighty Saints play there in January. Parking looks like it might be a problem for the away support though, unless you use the P&R.

SL, What good things are they doing for the away support?

If you built St Mary's today, it would cost near to £90m. The cost of steel has more than doubled in 10 years, as have general construction costs and other materials. Brighton had to do a lot of landscaping before even starting to build the ground, and that isn't cheap. Neither is adding access roads and parking etc. So their cost is about right in today's building market.

I think Brighton also had to purchase the land. Saints got the St Mary's land very cheap via a deal with the council (who wanted to get shot of it for years anyway)

I think Brighton have done a good job and it looks like the facilities for fans are way better than we've got at St Mary's. They can fill in the corners very easily and cheaply. Will cost a bit more to add another tier to one stand, but if they get to the Prem, would be achievable.

The new stadium will give Brighton a real lift this season. It's a tough choice out of who will do better out of us and them, but I have a feeling that Poyet will steer them close to the play-offs. It would be dead easy for them to fill the corners in if they needed to if they needed some extra pews.
