The ones moaning about the ticket prices will be the first to pipe up if the money that the club spend on players etc isn't at the level they expect though.

Whilst dearer than ours, a ST on the Kop equates to about £38 a game, is that extortionate?

    Probably on the whinging.

On the season ticket... well... given its 4th highest with 3 london clubs higher.... while utd and city's tickets are much lower? well.... everton's is 6th highest btw.

cheapest is west ham who were at 600+ then slashed them (temporally IMO) then stoke and man city at 299...

the average is going to be mid 500s so 550/19 = 29 quid. call it 30.

30 quid to see a prem game... on average. that doesn't seem outrageous generally so when you compare and start saying ok it was 47 to get in the anfield road end for a class b game.... you might be feeling a bit done.

Exactly. Plus hiking the ticket prices is quick, easy and instant [disgruntled fans aside] - from their point of view. Other commercial revenue streams takes effort and time.

how many pints down the cheese and how many packets of cancer sticks is it?

like.... whats your poison.... 38 quid to see a game... plus if you get whatever compared to this?

luckily some people take this very seriously so...

    http://www.pintprice.com/region.php?/United Kingdom/

I can say about £3 say... that 38 quid becomes 13 pints which is a couple nights for RHC. never mind the cancer sticks.

so... ok its a stereotype but you know peopel on the lower end usually still manage to indulge.

the couple kids of course is another matter but if they haven't bloody well gone and got a bit of training or something to give their kids a better life...

    Sad but true.
My point is that the cut-off point is getting inexorably higher, and one day the only ones who can afford it will be those that are only half interested anyway. This already contributes to a lack of atmosphere compared to the past.
I wonder what will happen when it stops being fashionable again?

Well the reality is more women are going and more kids so the demographic has changed. Away fans represent for me what old school was like as the singing, chanting and general ****e throwing is still there, not as much but it is still there. and why often the away fans are loudest at some games at anfield.

and why lfc fans are normally heard more at away grounds.

It's not just the price of the ticket, though MITO. All the peripherals feed in as well.

yeah but there is a small bit of choice in it..

you might not walk there but a few might. its not that far a walk. then you COULD bring a sandwich and a drink with you like... you could but you prob wouldn't. just saying. I have walked it before and while it took 20/25 mins it wasn't that bad. I know you could not at this point

Like ok for me its costly sure. but if we are talking the guy on minimum wage a lot of things come into it like location and whether you can be frugal.

Usually to the detriment of other aspects of their life.
I'm not trying to be the conscience of the world here, just observing.
Too much money going into the game is going straight out again to line the pockets of those without its best interests at heart.

Well, they're investigating illegality and what we've been discussing isn't actually illegal is it? Although some involved might be also involved in illegal stuff that's just coincidental.

You're right of course I was thinking more along the lines of the whole area of transfers, agents and their fees being a knock-on area of interest stemming from their investigations. I'd like to see some sort of transparency 'ruling' being brought in where moneys changing hands has to be declared or something like that. I think we top the charts currently for agents fees and I'd also like to know why that is.

I know I am an old bugger, but I remember paying £1.50 to stand on the Kop. I accept the average wage was probably £40 a week at the time. However, houses were cheaper as was petrol, etc so the disposable income was probably greater relatively.

I remember someone saying that in 1990 he paid £4 to stand on the Kop and a similar amount for fish and chips on the way home. He still pays £4 for his fish and chips on the way home but his ticket for the Kop is £40! Amazing when you think about it.
