Don't suppose you saw Grand Designs last night?

Mad pair of rich ****s creating a 'fun' house with loads of Scooby Doo false closets and such like? Was an incredible build, fair play.

Going off on a slight tangent like.

  5. There is no luck in this World, Skiddy, only Karma.

The punishment you were due would have cleared some bad Karma.

Life, in fact, got just that little bit worse for you.

    Thanks, Skiddy.

    Nice, a new one mate?

  7. Nah. I never buy new. Low mileage, and up to 6 years old. Let others suffer the depreciation. This one is 2010 with around 30,000 miles on the clock, and one previous owner. Mint bodywork. The engine is barely broken in.

I watched that, it was mental. I couldn't quite decide whether they were just great parents or barking mad.

I didn't like the build tbh, not my cup of tea, but it was a clever piece of design

I was a road not too far from home. Knew there was a static camera there as well. What I didn't know was it had recently been reduced from 40mph to 30mph <grr>

Mrs Stanley wants a new car. Think I will lease this time. We went to a dealership recently and they changed the subject every time we mentioned leasing. I asked a friend of mine in the car trade why that was and he said leasing is now the best deal for the customer and the worst for the dealership as it's got so competitive. They will try and con you with part exchange and residual value bullshit but ultimately they're doing their best to screw you as it's predicting the future with no guarantees.

... my previous employer's company car scheme required you to take Advanced Driver training (insurance premium reasons) ... course instructors (at least round here) are ex-Met traffic cops ... they are quite mad <laugh> .. but they do teach you loads of useful stuff ... in terms of 30 zones ... the tip was to stay in 3rd ... to exceed the speed limit then hurts your ears <laugh> ... also advised me to stay below 90 on motorways ... said if you are caught at 90 or above they always look to make an example ... <ok>

I did think each little cherub having its own secret den was short term thinking. They'll be surplus once the kids get older. And less shiny!

Lots of space to dump **** though, which is what actually happens to that type of room for normal people.

That's questionable tbh. Leasing provides fixed cost and removes the residual value risk, but it also removes the opportunity to carry any equity into the next car. PCP gives you a guaranteed residual, but if the car ends up being worth more come time to change, then you carry that over into the next one. Plus it's flexible as you can get out of it at any point, a lease is fixed term - with return conditions that can be costly if it's not mint when it goes back.

Fair enough. Any car I get the wife isn't going to be worth more than the projected residual value. The kids and the dog will trash it.

She not old enough to have a license?

PS claiming a bite is a bit like explaining a joke.
