    It has been a very good start, but the competition will remain fierce throughout. Can we keep the energy levels as high as they have been? Time. as always, will tell.

    Not as good as Suarez and Sturridge back when we had vampire boy and Sturridge was still really good.

    The balance of the squad is better though. Doubt we'll get anywhere near 2nd this year though. Prob 5th.

    Think the 08-09 Team still has the edge!
    Pepe in top form..
    Good defence..
    Midfield for of Mash, Alonso and Gerrard..
    Non-stop Dirk and Nando in top form...
    The striker force in 13/14 was better than 08-09 but thats about it..
    16/17 team has a LOT to prove...

    If you were to attempt to put together a top XI from the last decade or so. Not many current players would make it.

    Probably (assuming at their peak)

    FWD. Torres, Suarez
    MID. Cout. Gerrard, Alonso, Mash
    DEF. Riise, Carra, Agger, Fin/Arb
    GK. Reina

    Coutinho (maybe Mane) would be only ones from current team to make best a top XI of 2006-2016

    I think we're better balanced than we've ever been though (in last 10 years) despite the lack of individual stand out talents.

    I think Klopp deserves credit for improving us despite lack of top players. Bit early to get too enthusiastic though. Plenty of time for a slump and competitors are better than they were during Rafa and Brodgers 2nd place runs. (That's why predicting 5th).

    I would agree.

    I think its just wild bullshit type stuff. The squad has not changed so much form being called worst in years only 12 months ago.

    player by player is very very good compared to where we are today. If klopp had all of those players... well... who would make his line up form today?

    Matip... Mane, coutinho or firimino? , milner?

    I think it would be fairer to say however it is probably the best team since G&H ruined us.

    The 2013/14 side was not all that was it? it was gerrard last legs, and SAS.

    We should be optimisitc that we will give it a good go this year. Where we end up will most likely depend on how we sort the defense over time.
