One thing that makes me smile about these new notes is that they're supposedly tough to rip but that's not going to stop some daft **** who thinks it's a ****ing challenge.
When I used to work at Lime St many decades ago (Mrs Brady Old Lady bit coming up) we used to get loads of Manx plastic £1 notes. And hasn't Churchill already been on a note? I think it's time to put on a famous British woman who's added to our culture and standing throughout the world. I nominate Wendy Taylor, or Kay Parker.

On the wagon for five and half years. But you're right, and that was the problem - even five years ago if I had a pub tea on a Friday afternoon, stayed out till nine-ish and had several Guinesses (and an odd single malt or three ) £50 was an understatement and didn't include the taxi home.
