Where's a proper US Presidential candidate? Justin Gatlin for example? He would be a helluva lot better than either of these two. My heart cries for the USA having to choose between Trump or Clinton.
I didn't watch. I know I'm not voting for Trump and I didn't want to risk hearing Clinton say something repugnant that would make me hate voting for her even more.

Both sides blustering after. Its really a question of who would have offended least people by the look of it. Trump seems to have scored a few own goals last night according to reports. People who pay tax wont be very pleased with him. It seemed to me clinton had a clear line prepared on her stupid mail and just said she had no excuses. Trump fell over his tax and over house buying and walked into a couple jabs. Was there anything much in it.. i dunno.
Have to say..don't like either obviously but I was astounded at Trumps performance despite expecting something like it. Watched a mini docuseries on Netflix about various presidential campaign battles...talking to campaign teams before the debate..series was ok but it let me imagine Trumps team just banging their heads off desks during it .... Truly scary that it's not likely to damage him that much. If and big If he turns up at the next one it will be interesting to see if he just double downs on his approach and just makes it a blood bath or if he now listens to his team... I don't think he's capable of listening so I don't see the other 2 happening unless the format heavily favours him saying no more than 3 words at a time...

It was summed up, succinctly, by a US commentator on Newsnight last night - in essence, the US public are thick. They just don't understand the argument, financially, militarily or socially, and put more stead in the fact that Trump is a TV personality from a reality show. Hilary can 'win' the arguments on every discussion she wants; he just has to wait until the end of the final one and say "You're fired!" and the floating US voter will fall for him like the latest TV fad that's in the news over there that particular week. He did point out though that he's seen the previous discussion between Owen Jones and Mathew Paris about the Labour conference and that we're ****ed too. Given the Brexit campaign, he's not wrong.
Or better still..he admitted to those in his core base during that debate that he thinks it's great that they lost their homes and businesses after 2008 because he could hoover up property cheap..Or use the bankruptcy laws to screw the employees and walk away still able to do business himself? Or not pay the worker after he fulfills his contract on a whim? He's as anti normal working American as it can get. I understand after the meltdown and trade agreements that people are angry with the "establishment" it just amazes me that they don't see he IS the establishment. His entire business has been built on manipulating what they see as corrupt. I think that's probably what he is hiding more in his tax returns...all these countries and businesses he's slagging off for taking jobs from America...I'm guaranteeing that's where most of his money is tied up. And yet sadly I think that as long as he appeals to their racism etc they wouldn't care about the hypocracy even if it was revealed in black and white.
