I noticed on the OS Gallery of training this week, that no one was wearing shin pads during the "game" bit of the training.

In light of Bolton's Tyrone Mears breaking his leg this week, I was a little surprised. I know they won't go "kicking" each other, but accidents happen and it could only take a wrong angled knock to break a leg.

    Surprised.

Sadly thats football training!! No one wears shin pads anymore. Even when I was at school the 1st team didn't have to wear shin pads but I can tell you now I made sure I did.

That's Strange because when I was coaching kids it was compulsory for children and included anyone under 16 to wear shin pads at all times while playing football. The only time it did not apply was in the gym. How times have changed........

That is true, I spent 1 year out injured. Couldn't get fit enough again so started pissib around in the hampshire league for a couple of clubs, not just play sunday mornings. So yes, it was ruined.

To answer the other question, no, i'm not playing for salisbury anymore although was offered a trial when last season but declined as i was never going to get picked.

We don't wear shin pads in training. They get in the way. I've always worn 6 year old shin pads as well as they're tiny.
