the concept of god as an entity or creator doesnt disappear because of what we see as 'faults' with certain sects. I will say sects as that is what they have become

    this is what i mean

christianity is not the biggest in terms of 'practiced' religion
but christianity is the yardstick that 'religion' is measured by.
most athiests I know (and it is I know) all come from a catholic background
which says more about catholicism to me than religion per se

however they annoy me too because they are basing their athiesm on catholicism
not the concept of god etc

There are many different religions under the heading of Christianity so which one are you starting with?

Amen comes from the Hebrew for 'I agree'. The Christian festivals were organised on these dates to compete with pagan festivals, to convert people to Christianity, but the dates aren't really important; it's what Christians celebrate on these dates.

i actually agree that is baloney, but if (like me) you look into it you will see that its actually perfectly clear.
Why listen to some guys centuries later making certain claims. Why not go to the original source? no easy feat i admit

Jesus never said he was god, half god or anything of the sort. He answered that directly on many occasions
The whole 'trinity' thing was 'created' years later to 'fit' what was going around at the time

And that is my problem with religion and people who hate it. They take everything on face value. which leads people to take advantage

I hate how people who don't believe in God and don't agree with religion try and belittle those that do and make them out to be idiots. It is as if other people having a belief in something is actually causing them harm. Some people need to stop being so arrogant and realise that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs.

the problem isnt god, its his fan club.

how much blood has been spilt over the centuries in the name of god?

you are quite right, everyone is entitled to their beliefs, however no one has the right to enforce their beliefs on others.

How much blood has been spilt over oil, or gold, or diamonds? The one common link between all these is man's greed and corruptablility.

Religion is ruined by a few idiots who use it as an excuse to act like ****s, however no religion tells people to mistreat others, quite the opposite in fact.

I agree that you shouldn't enforce your beliefs on others and I can't stand people who do.

a few idiots? i think not

the premiss for the original question " should the death penalty be re intoduced" is based i guess, on an eye for an eye. i think this is stated in the bible? however," Though shall not kill" is also there.

blood is being spilt now over religion, it always has and always will sadly.

Actually the bible says Thou shalt not murder. The 2 words in Hebrew are different and so the use is intentional.

Also my question of how much blood has been spilt over oil, or gold, or diamonds has not been answered yet. Religion itself is not the problem or the cause of wars but it is the corruptability of man and man's ability to pervert their beliefs that causes bloodshed.

i agree, however i would bet that far more lives have been destroyed and disrupted in the name of religion.

i am not against the idea of religion, just how it is practised.

power and greed are also linked to religious supremicists and have been through the ages.

    <ok>

Also relatively speaking it is just a few idiots who use religion as an excuse to treat others like ****, the majority of religious people don't go out killing others.
