I'll be amazed if Roberto Martinez isn't included.

Some of his transfer deals have appeared sooooo shady

But he also failed to take the two most naturally gifted players in England, one of them scoring a hatrick in his "audition" game for the B team, but took David ****ing Batty and Darren sicknote Anderton absolutely unforgivable.

Most salesman I know who are sucessful in their jobs achieve this by being (relatively) honest and trustworthy and use their personalities to build relationships with their customers...not an easy skill and is a million miles from your cold calling £9/hr numpty that either rings you at dinner time, or knocks on your door.
I wish I had the knack for it FLT, and have a deal of respect for those that have.
I usually get put straight into the techno-nerd category just because I work in IT and it takes a while before people accept that I'm actually the same as them, with a life, hobbies and actual physical friends. Sweeping generalisations and stereotyping piss me off because its lazy and ignorant, and just generally insulting.

I think you're showing a great deal of empathy there. But I think a little misplaced. You have to accept that Allardyce consciously thought about what he could get away with. He may not be a truly bad man at his core, although he has been unofficially caught before by the BBC Panorama TV programme over a decade ago. I question his moral code, his priorities in life and career, and his intellectual capacity to not be able to turn down yet more bad money after good, to turn an old phrase around. The good that comes from this is that there are people out there who are on the edge of doing similar things, ie, putting their snouts in a trough where their snouts have no business being. And this could be a caution to them. And they can ask themselves what kind of people do they want to be.?

You are right there TSS. My initial reaction was similar to SaintSerbia, but the more it settles in, the more I think 'you greedy berk'.

Not utter ignorance. I am talking about the kind of salespeople I actually come into contact with. Pretty sure I qualified my statement well enough!

Obviously the world is full of salespeople doing important jobs who look after businesses and provide a wonderful service. Unfortunately, the vast majority of people don't see much of these people.

A bit arrogant of you to assume that I am utterly ignorant when I picked out and clearly defined two types of salespeople I don't like. Unless you are telling me they don't exist?

I think I understand your arguing technique now, though! :D

When vehicles are made entirely out of plastics, FLT's your man. He's a polymer salesman. ;)

I get so sick of those polymer salesmen calling me up when I am having my dinner, trying to hard-sell me into buying the latest polymer composite membranes...

I'm just going to pretend I know what polymer is and go along with the joke.
