Based purely on results on the pitch, I'm a heartbeat, yes. Based on the reality of the situation he's in now, he could well be finished in the game, depending on what else, if anything else comes out. If I were to compare Sam to Moyes, and ask for one of them to take us for the rest of the season in order to keep us up, it'd be Sam.
No. Not because he's been a twat lately, but he was such a good fit at SAFC and he still walked away. I know England was his crack at the big time, dream job, blah blah blah. But he only got it because he was the least worse of a few bad options. He could have made himself a legend at SAFC, given time and a bit of money, but no. How can he come back now...?
Hey the bloke has done wonders you know relegation followed by rafalution and all that - now surely you would give him up to help the English cause. Are you not a patriot?
I think when the dust settles on this there won't be huge damage to his reputation. What are people going to sing at him, "you got conned by a paper, "you took the piss out of Woy like everybody else", "you have a vague aura of dodginess"? He doesn't look good right now but if there's nothing worse to come then he'll be alright.
I'd have him back in an instance.....he would keep us up and get everyone positive again.Moyes for England and big Sam for Sunderland!!!
Daft question considering Short can't stand the bloke after this summer. Moot point. We're about as likely to sign Colback and make him our highest earner/club captain.
Not for me, he had a chance here to do something special and blew it,he couldn't get out the door quick enough which will always stick in my throat. Dream job, what a load of sh1t, he was touting for other business before England had hardly kicked a ball.
If he does stay in management it will probably be in the middle east. Somewhere where dodgy practices are seen as a skill. Qatar perhaps.
Some of you seem to think his reputation is in tatters after this, it's really not, he'll probably issue a statement today/tomorrow that'll be full of apologies and it'll clear the way for his next job, in this league. Because of what he does, he's almost guaranteed a job in this league every year, it'll just depend on whether he wants to come back or not.
He got a £1m payoff towards his pension fund for 67 days work - that's about £15k a day. I'm sure there will be at least 3 Premier League clubs looking for his services before the next transfer window.
I've just read the info on the SSN website, I'm cracking up here, I know that bloke he called his friend hahahaha
