The FA statement: The FA can confirm that Sam Allardyce has left his position as England manager. Allardyce's conduct, as reported today, was inappropriate of the England manager. He accepts he made a significant error of judgement and has apologised. However, due to the serious nature of his actions, The FA and Allardyce have mutually agreed to terminate his contract with immediate effect. This is not a decision that was taken lightly but The FA's priority is to protect the wider interests of the game and maintain the highest standards of conduct in football. The manager of the England men's senior team is a position which must demonstrate strong leadership and show respect for the integrity of the game at all times. Gareth Southgate will take charge of the men's senior team for the next four matches against Malta, Slovenia, Scotland and Spain whilst The FA begins its search for the new England manager. The FA wishes Sam well in the future.
Phelan has now been caretaker manager of City longer than Allardyce has been full time manager of England. Both appointed on the same day. The world's gone mad.
Ehab get on the blower to Big Sam ASAP. Pay him what he wants. Chance to save our season right there.
Steve Bruce is already second favourite, behind Pardew. Maybe the papers will finally get their ridiculous wish and Redknapp will be appointed.
Around 10AM this morning on SkyBet, the question was: Will Allardyce be in charge of England v Malta?? Yes 1/10 No 11/2 Grrrrrrr...... should have snapped that up......... By mid afternoon no was 1/3
Alladyce leaving is no loss where England is concerned. There were many footballing reasons why he should have never got anywhere near an interview for the job. People may not be happy with the way Allardyce has been set up by these undercover reporters but there must be something people in football knew about Allardyce's character for the telegraph to organise this meeting and then raise the subjects that were discussed. Allardyce shouldn't have been anywhere near that meeting and has only got himself to blame for the outcome
Irrespective of any footballing credentials, how ****ing stupid is he?? Got the dream job he always wanted and royally ****ed it up in record time. Unbelievable.
