We all know football is a horrible, corrupt sport. It's been obvious for a long time. I'm not surprised by these revelations in the slightest. I actually hope it doesn't cost big Sam his job though. (Having said that, he's already persisted with Wayne Rooney in his first game against all logical evidence, so I'm not sure he is the right man anyway.)
Allardyce said he was invited to talk about a motivational job....this has been confirmed by an agent that was misled as well (can see The Telegraph being sued by him as he says his reputation is under threat). Sounds like other issues were brought up and Sam got loose lipped...he has been described today as someone who will always answer questions if asked (opinionated is another word for it). He may have been involved in shady things in the past, but I am beginning to feel sorry for him now. He always said he had to ask the FA before committing himself (this is apparently clear on the tapes). May have been a fool and loose lipped, but I think he should be kept on as it is hardly convenient to sack him. Of course, that's with the proviso that nothing else comes out.
End of the day he shouldn't of even been talking about it given his position. Unlucky , stitched up, loose lipped call it what you will, he's only him self to blame. Just look what happend to Andre Great, it only takes one stupid comment and you get hammered for it, big sam should of known better. Having said all that I couldn't give a monkey's toss if he's sacked or not.
This is what happens when you have too much money and nothing to do - my advice to Sam is do like that other bloke in the same situation - lie, lie and lie again and run for President!
Certainly sounds like we're going to get an answer tonight, whether it's sacked, resigned or staying on.
If you are doing something you shouldn't why would you talk about it? Also if you work in a sensitive department surely they would be entitled to test you? If what you are doing is against the rules of the company you work for why shouldn't they see if you can be trusted. Wouldn't you want to know if someone you trust is basically sticking his fingers up to his employers, who indirectly work for you and I. I know I would............ I've always thought he was a prat and what it is alleged he did just heightens my belief
paul joyce @pjoyceexpress 11m Sam Allardyce to leave England role tonight. Mutual agreement between him and FA to part ways Gone
It's typical of the British media, build them up, then knock them down! Yeah I know that there is alleged corruption in footie, but surely Fat Sam can't be the only one? But of course, they won't try and sting the big boys, will they?
Well done to the fa. Now let's hope they invest in the future rather than looking for an instant fix like they did with the appointment of fat Sam.
They've literally said he's not the only one. He's just the headline act, they've investigated corruption in British football.
They've been investigating for 10 months and Big Sam only came into their sights in the last two weeks. That footage is from last week. When the England manager suddenly appears in a corruption and immorality investigation, and he has a track record, you're obviously going to follow it up. More fool Sam. A bloody shame.
He's a ****ing idiot. Gets the job he has always wanted then ****s it up. I wonder who the others are?
I don't really understand what it is Sam is supposed to have done - but if it involves deals with agents, it's probably rotten. But then professional sport is a rotten business altogether really. Very sad
Being reported he has gone by 'mutual consent'. Means he walks away with a gratuity for being a 'plank'. Sums up the FA.
I've seen a couple of journo's say that it's Southgate's if he wants it. Possibly with a senior head as assistant (McLaren had Venebles. Staunton had Sir Bobby with Ireland).
