We have a monastery literally across the road from our estate. Hundreds of crows roost there...all come back in like a black cloud in the evening...like a scene from the birds..loud as feck too...Although not half as many as when I was a kid.

Our feeders get loads of different tits and other small birds I haven't a clue what they are..we've had a Robin for a couple po for years ...aggressive little bugger he is too. And one wagtail...also a bully...fights off the crows...

Great tits and green finches are the most aggro birds out there from my observations, they'll peck at anything mostly other birdies and hog the feeders

Robins are very friendly and follow you around, especially if they know you give seeds and fat balls etc

We get a lot of blue tits, great tits, bullfinches, blackbirds and a few thrushes and goldfinches and a ****ing **** tonne of pigeons as a by-product of feeding, i don't mind a pigeon but when it's like a ****ing biker gang with them prowling out there it's ridiculous and all the other birds get squeezed out

magpies, wood pigeons, starlings, sparrows, collared doves and wrens are also common around here, gulls as well course

funny how some only feed on the ground and others only on feeders

yeah crows and rooks are really loud birds, especially when they're settling in to roost

Bit controversial but I walk my dog in the monastery and it used to be teeming with grey squirrels..literally falling out of trees like tribbles....then not a one..asked the grounds keeper one day and he just did the throat slit gesture and muttered they'd been eating eggs and fledglings...don't know why as they are a rodent but didn't think of squirrels being carnivorous...makes sense that they are though..

Had heard they were going to introduce pine martens into our NI woods as they eat squirrels but Reds have learned to watch out for them but the greys don't so get munched....

Hahahahaha, red squirrels ???!!! More likely to see a unicorn or a sasquatch round here. Loads of grey ones though and they eat anything and everything, all the bird feeds, including the feeders, any rubbish and scraps that gets dropped, the grass when they're digging for nuts, I think there is a problem with their numbers but not sure culling is the answer, i guess if they're causing problems for other species you have to manage it, the grey squirrel was the death of the red squirrel in most parts of the uk

Actually there's also a few foxes around here, could hear this thumping noise out back a few nights ago and was like what the feck is that so i looked out the window and it was two young ones chasing each other around up and down the place and jumping on the bins and that

See dead badgers and stuff out in more rural areas where I drive the van some routes

Yeah...think the cull is to save the red as we still have them. Mixed feelings about culls even with foreign invaders...like the pine marten idea as it's reintroducing a rare animal originally here that will munch the greys lol..

Plenty of badgers, rabbits around us. Foxes too...we had a vixen and cubs out the back field until they built more bloody houses and they moved on.

We've another wood a mile away that's used as a pheasant breeding site...silly bastards love walking out in front of your car...just got to try and give them a glancing blow rather than smash and you've got dinner lol...

I wonder why after finishing 1st then 2nd in the league, he decided that being 17th made him suddenly realise he was "not the right manager anymore"?
Could it be because he wasn't getting what he wanted anymore?, the new guy seems to be doing ok by the way <ok>

When did Klopp finish 17th?

He likes something to work with, something he can make a difference to, rather than walk into a ready-made outfit where he's just trying to keep the ball rolling.
I hesitate to use the dreaded word "project", but you know what I mean.

True but he's still one of the best coaches in the world and he could have commanded any job in world football let alone a club who have been mid table for the past 6 odd years.

Not that I'm complaining ;)

Back soon just using this quote on another thread <ok>

Very fortunate to have him and it's a massive statement about the man that he even came to us in the first place. I hope we have him for a while longer, though he's more than likely going to be snapped up by a bigger fish if we continue this success, which in a way isn't totally a bad thing if he can get the club back on it's feet, which clearly we're on the road to.

The squad is in really good shape, we have depth up top which is something we've never really had going back to the days of Benitez with N'Gog as back up to Torres. We have a functional midfield which fits in to Klopp's ethos, which has proved a lot of people wrong so far.. No round pegs in square holes. Defence is still a work in progress but you can see improvements on a weekly basis in terms of structure and organization, we've got rid of the deadwood and developed players who didn't look like they had a future with us ie. Lovren. And of course we have a new keeper but time will tell if he's the real deal, but at least he's tried to address the issue.

He's kept the players who had flourished with us last season and built on it despite most calling for a massive overhaul, he's working with what he's had and he's not been afraid to spend if the player is the right fit. Gini and Mane look like steals on current form, obviously still early days.

And then of course his pressers are just totally genuine, particularly liked the quote post match Saturday: “I'm not interested in statements. I'm interested in collecting points”.. He looks absolutely focused on the job and doesn't look to get caught up in his own ego. It's about winning and not about him.

And then cherry on the cake.. We're an absolute pleasure to watch. Fluid, pacey and relentless, it's taken time but that is exactly what was expected when he came on, I think if nothing else, no matter how inconsistent we are, each one us now is excited (more than we already were) to see us play every weekend.

Whats that got to do with birds and foxes though?

Agree with everything else, Ted, but 'big fish' is not the way he goes. He's still got a huge amount to do here.

Tetrachomy is interesting. Many birds are tetrachromatic, being able to see an extra dimension of colour.

Some people (mostly women) have tetrachomy too. To them the world is much more colourful than what we see. Average person is able to differentiate between approximately 1 million colours. A woman who has tetrachomy can differentiate between 100 million colours. For every colour we can distinguish between they can distinguish 100.

(Some birds and reptiles have this ability too... So maybe some dinosaurs do)

Only truly monochromatic mammels are deep diving aquatic mammels.

Is this yank-speak? <yikes>
