What an idiot. In these days of cameras, hidden microphones and sly journalists, honesty is the only option.
Just seen this amusing story. Allardyce is of that generation of British managers who didn't profit much from the game as players and feel the rules don't apply to them as managers, it is their right to line their pockets at every opportunity, no matter how enormous their 'real' salary is. Clough was the shining example, But at least he wasn't 'earning' £3M a year when taking bungs, and he was a genius. I hope Allardyce is hung out to dry, humiliated in public and sent packing.
Certainly not a good look for fat Sam. Is his position now untenable ? He may be able to slide on back to Sunderland as save them from the drop. As for Harry ..... well, we all know any decisions he made may have been under duress from his dicky knees.
When I first saw this and thought why would he do this? Is it right for journalists to set him up and shop the national manager? It must be common practice for the manager's in the game to grab as much filthy lucre as he and they can regardless of how much they already possess if this is the case. He wasn't wrong on 1) woy 2) Neville 3) Wembley 4) players not playing for their clubs though. I'm not sure I really care, Big Sam looks too much like Meatloaf to be England manager for my liking ... please log in to view this image
You're right on the resemblance Nines - in that photo shoot ML appears to have aged quite well, but not looking so good here:- please log in to view this image http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3646164/Meat-Loaf-collapses-stage.html
Are we really that surprised? They are all at it. Never seen so much greed in sport. Sam is just another one to add to the growing list.
Fall on your sword Sam, in six months time, you can make yourself a hero again by saving a PL club from the drop. Stevie Bruce, where are you??????
That surprises me Col. Even if he has done nothing technically wrong, this shows very poor judgement and real naivety. Mind you, I can't think of anyone else to do this crappy job. Telegraph saying it will name 10 managers who have taken transfer bribes. Surely Redknapp and his dog have to be on this list.
Yeah, my post was probably more a reflection of my mood than any real in depth thought on the subject.
The only surprising thing is are we really surprised by this? My initial thought was total apathy........ Expect to see Redknapp and Rosie listed 1 and 2 when the names are released......
