I've always been turned off by the whole idea of a TV debate for political office. I want my politicians to be able to do a good job in the places where it matters - not to be slick on the telly. Like you say, too many idiots will be impressed by some big smartarse talk when what is needed is the capability for sensible, intelligent decision making.
