That's not going to happen. It would be political suicide regardless of the harm it has the potential to cause.

What do you mean "same benefits"? We are leaving the EU. If the EU wants they can decide not have us as part of the single market. USA, China, Canada are not part of the single market. Are they crying about it? Do these "same benefits" mean mass immigration of people to take our housing and use our schools and hospitals, high unemployment, propping up the failed Euro. If EU don't want us as part of the single market then they will just have to accept paying tariffs of, on average, 3%. If that applied to a pint of beer, it would go up from £3 to £3.09. Is that a massive hardship? People seem to be panicking about little things while begging to be bossed around by eurocrats.
I prefer living in a country that makes our own decisions and deals with the countries of the world not a country that has to do what it's told by fat cats in Brussels. This is what will happen. If you don't like it take the opportunity to go and live in Greece or some other EU country that knows what being part of the EU means.

I like to think Pete had Rule Britannia playing in his head as he typed this.

How about US and Canada not being eager to get better access to the EU market or those record unemployment rates.

It's laughable, or would be if I didn't know that he's actually serious.

He's so focused on keeping the immigrants out ( the irony!) that 'minor details', like getting a workable trade agreement with the EU, have been relegated to insignificance in his tiny mind!

You say it like "no deal" will be no biggie for us, like we can just crack on and it will all work out perfectly. In ten or twenty years we might be better off, though it's far too early to say, but if the attitude is "sod off Jonny Foreigner, we won the war" there will be some serious turmoil along the way.

Will May & Co pander to scared pensioners who cross the road when they see a woman in a burkha? I think she's strong enough not to but there will be plenty of anger directed her way when we find out what Brexit means (apart from Brexit) whatever that is.

Why dont you want control of our borders, as most counties have border control, why scares you of this?

We have control of our borders. We're not part of the Schengen Agreement.

Why do you always bring it back to immigration? Why do you find immigrants so terrifying? Do you think that one of them will steal your job as they are more committed and intelligent than you?

    Is English your first language?

Because I'm not moronic enough to think we can realistically cherry-pick the "good" immigrants.

Because we already have "control" over non-EU migration.

Because immigration is key to any economy which plans to grow, particularly one with a not insignificant number of feckless natives and an ageing population.

I would go on but will leave you with that as I go to work.

Anyone from the EU can come live here, so we dont have control.
