I didn't think Putin allowed the Communist Party to run for elections in Russia. You obviously know more than me, what sort of percentage of the votes do they get?

Who is suggesting turning a blind eye or that it's not a big deal? I'm suggesting fraud is tackled. Targeting the most cost effective, and with least detriment on society is a reasonable way to prioritise the method.

In absolute and percentage terms tax fraud is a much bigger issue than benefit fraud. In fact, out of all the categories of fraud calculated by the UK Government, benefit fraud is the second lowest. Only identity fraud which costs individuals £1.4billion a year comes below it.

If it's about forcing the unemployed into work, paying someone else to do the job is an illogical approach, especially if we then contribute to paying state supported Koreans to do the imported workers job in their homeland and help fund the Korean military.

The revenue are like the old bill, they're basically lazy. They will always go after the easy target.

When the Govt uses 3rd party tax specialists in order to try and close loopholes, who then promptly go and advise their clients of alternative methods to still remain 'tax efficient' then what's the realistic chance of change whilst this lot are in power?

If you have people who have no interest in working, then merely closing the borders to EU migrants isn't going to alter that mindset. Before the major influx from Eastern Europe there were illegal farm workers all over the shop for example. Just closing the door isn't going to solve that issue and it's folly to suggest it, as the jobs are there, the opportunities are the same for immigrants as they are for born nationals.

I'd say a better chance than relying on politicians that admit that part of their reason for opening the gates from europe was to try to **** up the tories, and that now admit they got it badly wrong. The same party that created a benefit system and mindset in some that meant that for some, living on benefits was a career choice, and that didn't tackle the greedy twats at the 'top'. The same party that can't seem to agree with each other on anything.

I'm apolitical, but some seem to push party politics in place of logic, which leaves bizarre debates when so called right wingers are arguing the case for the underprivileged, against a left winger defending the wealthy.

Living on benefits has been a lifestyle choice of some for as long as I can remember!

It's nothing new and has always existed under both Tory and Labour gvts. If and until somebody comes up with a reliable, politically acceptable way of separating the deserving from the the lazy and feckless, it will continue to exist.

It's really got SFA to do with immigration, there's a plentiful supply of bone idle Brits.

That's very true, it has always existed. Some people won't take jobs as it will affect their benefits. Nobody should be better of on benefits than in work. As you say, others are just bone idle.

If only everyone was as intelligent as you and got all their financial and economic information from the Mail and Express then the World Recession would never have happened!

The original forecast was made when it was assumed that, in event of a leave vote, article 50 would be activated immediately. It wasn't, so it is not backtracking, just reacting to changed circumstances.

It's such ludicrously selective 'reporting' that it doesn't even merit a response.
