Jackie Sewell ex City player has died 89, remember watching him play. RIP.

 

I remember a headline in the "Green 'Un" from when I was a kid and it's always stuck with me although I don't rememember him. It read, "Jackie Sewell, City's Jewel."

I remember him. Played for us 1959-61.

 

If you remember he came about the same time as they bought Ron Shiner who they bought from Sheff Wed.

 

I remember him well, even in the twilight of his playing days he still oozed class.

 

Yes he came in 1959 for one season and remember him as well.

 

I was standing on the bus coming from town, and Ron Shiner got on outside Stan Leemans and stood next to me. My claim to fame

 

I hope he did not get off at Boothferry Park from there.

 

The headline in the Green Mail the evening after his home debut read "This Roy's a real Shiner" as he had scored in the game City won (I vaguely remember he scored both goals in the 2-0 home win).

 

No Anlaby where I got off.
