Taken ages to get through this thread............40 pages? on the same day as the thread? There can only be one reason for that..................because it's those big headed "we're a big club" winkers Wet Spam. Best result of the season this one. Want us to beat this lot away even more than I want us to beat Liverhampton or Tottingham..........or even Portsmuck.

Get in there. I would love them going down. That massive borrowed stadium in the Championship (or L1...........or L2) would be great.

Right can't wait to read the 150 pages on KUMB...........

Oh and well done to all the £10 west ham fans for deserting their cheap seats with 10 minutes still to go. lol. Long way from the stadium back to the East End.......not.

I stand corrected! I was remembering the social media thing with him and Forster where JWP got ribbed for not having scored from open play.

 

I have to say that as much as I feel a bit sick when Mane bangs in 25yd efforts for Liverhampton, I think this is one of the best attacking line-ups we've ever had. When everyone's back fit we are going to have quite the forward line.

 

From the KUMB which echos what I could hear both on the stream and on MOTD in particular where Saints fans were very very loud.

Very good second half performance, especially in terms of creating chances. What were our shots and shots on stats today though? I know we scored three goals but aside when Austin and Tadic (and maybe Pierre) are shooting, I feel like we miss a disproportionate number of chances compared to other teams.

 

Evidently our idea of getting at them is hopeful balls up to Zaza for Van Dijk to redistribute.

That is fascinating, especially Tadić's average position in front of both Austin and Redmond. But the key stat is how few touches Fraser had!

 

Thought the analysis on corners was interesting on MOTD2 - shows the refs have got this right this season, and it's led to more exciting games and goals.

 

Still, the acoustics are good in our new home, Southampton sound deafening........

I liked the guy who said "how many of these Southampton players would you have in our team, two at most"

To which another replied "all of them".

 

And here it is!

 

Yeah they kept saying about how we are just a workman like team with no stars. They have Payet and a bunch of unwormanlike non stars, seems to be doing them well

 

I think they were overdoing it a bit. As if they were admitting they'd quite forgotten us and were making up for lost opportunities. Did I really hear the phrase "fantastic football at times" being attributed to Saints.? I don't think any of it was fantastic. Very good and great, at times. Inevitably, there was the "but". And it was due to WHU being so poor. You could hear it coming from a mile off.

And if I've heard the phrase "but take nothing away from Southampton", once over the years, I've heard it a thousand times.

 

That looks remarkably like an actual diamond.

 

Just got in from work, caught up on MOTD ... wow, that was rather pleasing, wasn't it!?

 

By the by, here are our possession stats for the season, going off the Whoscored numbers (which seem to parallel reality somewhat better than the BBC's):

64%, 57%, 64%, 43%, 53%, 55%.

And the percentage of our shots that came from outside the box over that span:

54%, 46%, 94%, 45%, 32%, 17%.


We have significantly upped our tempo in the past three matches, to good effect. Less possession at the back, but more chances in the box. Certainly saw that today....for most of the first half we spent an awful lot of time passing it around in midfield, going nowhere. Even West Ham looked competent defending against that! Second half, when West Ham had to push forward a bit, we started moving the ball much faster and holes appeared whenever we did. And sometimes when we didn't. But mostly when we did.
