I thing it an 4-4-2 diamond when attacking, and when defending two strikes split and follow the opposition full backs so the formation takes more of a 4-3-3 shape, with the player starting at the tip of the diamond now the furthest forward. I think that's the idea. It sound reasonable, but Austin is wasted in that system.

We used to say how awful it would be to support West Ham when Sam Allardyce was in charge at Upton Park. Imagine supporting them now under Bilic. Horrendous. 11 men behind the ball from the first minute onwards, no shots on target. At home.

 

Yep. He's not got the best stamina, so keep him around the box and let others track.

This. Although I understand the complaints though. Austin did get caught defending out wide and that play where he dribbled 20 yards towards our own goal was bad. West Ham did us a huge favor and fouled him.

Austin isn't really a winger in the diamond. But at times he is being forced to play like a winger or even wingback, so we need to try to clean that up.

 

Although he was terrible first half, good young player.

Although there are obvious reasons why the head injury rule is required, i do think it is far from perfect. All a player needs to do to stop a counter attack is hold their head. 90% of the time they arent even hurt. It is a very difficult one to resolve.

 

Be surprised if they had one of those on this showing so far.
