They lost at home to Rochdale.

The dirty b'stards also had a man sent off.

Thing with Mowatt is he apparently likes to go out round town quite a lot, he does lack pace but I suspect he doesn't help himself. I like Phillips, he used to own U23 matches and he is a good squad player. I agree that he probably won't ever be a world beater but hes a tough tackler, he can pass and he can shoot, so there's a lot to work with.

To be fair Rochdale are a big club compared to our Wally friends so the result shouldn't surprise anyone , it also looks like they're having their usual after Xmas slump before Xmas this season eh, the dirty ****ers

With you all the way there, apart from Phillips. I acknowledge that I'm biased towards him, as I still maintain he reminds me of a young Graeme Souness & so far I've seen nothing to change my mind. Worth asking the guy he managed to get stretchered off about that too. :D I've just read Phil Hay's player ratings from yesterday, and it's worth you having a read at his comments on Phillips. Note also that he scored him higher than Jansson, which is high praise indeed! :D

    http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co....-ipswich-town-0-yep-player-ratings-1-8145586?

YEP writer Phil Hay provides his Leeds United player ratings on the back of the 1-0 win against Ipswich Town at Elland Road. Do you agree with his choices?

    Rob Green
The only hope Ipswich had was through a mistake at the back and Green and his defence were as error-free as they’ve been. 7/10

    Luke Ayling
Ipswich’s lack of pace played into his hands and he was able to bully Freddie Sears from the outset. Never troubled. 7/10

    Kyle Bartley

Every bit as good as Jansson and that partnership in the centre of defence is getting better by the game. 8/10

    Pontus Jansson

Typically bullish, typically aggressive and took out a key man in Brett Pitman with a big, early challenge. 7/10

    Charlie Taylor

His cross led to the goal and while Taylor doesn’t look like he’s truly at his peak, you wouldn’t take him out of the team. 7/10

    Kalvin Phillips

As good a performance as he’s had for Leeds. Liam Bridcutt was missing but wasn’t missed. 8/10

    Eunan O’Kane

Did a lot of the quiet, scruffy work which needed to be done and United’s balance is better with him in the middle. 8/10

    Hadi Sacko

A bit rough round the edges but wonderfully dangerous with his pace. Should have put the result beyond doubt. 7/10

    Pablo Hernandez
Tremendous. Has a range of close-range passing around the box which no-one else at Leeds possesses. 8/10

    Stuart Dallas

Epitomised the energy and graft which United had and Ipswich couldn’t match. Getting steadily better. 7/10

    Chris Wood

Yes, he scored again and a good finish it was, but it was more pleasing to see Wood properly hammer a Championship backline. 9/10

    Substitutes:

Kemar Roofe (for Hadi Sacko, 77) - A positive change and Leeds did not let Ipswich off the hook. 6/10

Alex Mowatt (for Hernandez, 82) - Again, a substitution which tried to keep United going forward. 6/10

Matt Grimes (for Dallas, 86) - For Grimes, it must have been enough to simply get on the pitch. 5/10

That would have been a dream come true if he's played yesterday & we got him stretchered off. It would have been the only bit of excitement he ever generated at ER :D

I'm not sure who 'people' is aimed at... I am one who believes Monk should never have changed to 4-4-2 I don't mind him trying it when things are not working but for me he persevered for far too long after signing players and a preseason based on 4-2-3-1

However, I have never called for Wood to be banished to the U18's or for Wood and Antonnson to be a two man partnership. This post suggests that those moaning about us going to 4-4-2 and for Wood to be dropped are one of the same?

Phil Hay is a knob ... how can you give a player a rating when he's only come on in the 85th minute? amateur reporter at best

Heard this story about you, Shaks .... :D

A Texan walks into a pub in Ireland and clears his voice to the crowd of drinkers. He says, "I hear you Irish are a bunch of hard drinkers. I'll give $500 American dollars to anybody in here who can drink 10 pints of Guinness back-to-back." The room is quiet and no one takes up the Texan's offer. One man even leaves. Thirty minutes later the same gentleman who left shows back up and taps the Texan on the shoulder. "Is your bet still good?"

The Texan says yes and asks the bartender to line up 10 pints of Guinness. Immediately the Irishman tears into all 10 of the pint glasses drinking them all back-to-back. The other pub patrons cheer as the Texan sits in amazement. The Texan gives the Irishman the $500 and says, "If ya don't mind me askin', where did you go for that 30 minutes you were gone?” The Irishman replies, "Oh...I had to go to the pub down the street to see if I could do it first".

.... and as it's a Paddy story, this one must be about you, Davy .... :D

Paddy walks into a bar in Dublin, orders three pints of Guinness and sits in the back of the room, drinking a sip out of each one in turn. When he finishes them, he comes back to the bar and orders three more. The bartender asks him, "You know, a pint goes flat after I draw it; it would taste better if you bought one at a time." Paddy replies, "Well, you see, I have two brothers. One is in America, the other in Australia, and I'm here in Dublin. When we all left home, we promised that we'd drink this way to remember the days when we drank together." The bartender admits that this is a nice custom, and leaves it .Paddy becomes a regular in the bar, and always drinks the same way: ordering three pints and drinking them in turn. One day, he comes in and orders two pints. All the other regulars notice and fall silent. When he comes back to the bar for the second round, the bartender says, "I don't want to intrude on your grief, but I wanted to offer my condolences on your great loss." Paddy looks confused for a moment, then a light dawns in his eye and he laughs. "Oh, no," he says, "Everyone's fine. I've just quit drinking!"

We all know why we think we switched to 4-4-2 (or at least who made us) but we'll dance round our handbags. Monk grew a pair and went back to what he believes in, the result..... <whistle>
