The cold hard facts are that there's still circa 5% of the nation who aren't in work, whilst in the last decade we've been importing labour at the rate of 2-300,000 a year. Many of those are long term feckless, they need to get back into work as I'd argue that unemployment breeds social problems.

Whilst we're subject to a Tory govt I'm afraid genuine change in tackling tax avoidance simply isn't going to happen. Ironically Brexit could make our blind eye policy to corporate tax evasion even more likely as we try to find ways of attracting global investment

I don't doubt you are. We are all descendants of immigrants somewhere down the line though.

The opening of the borders was, according to the labour party that initiated it, a huge mistake that should not have happened. The EU has worse unemployment and living standards than us, hence there people trying to get in here, replaced by organised groups such as the North Koreans on mainland europe.

Control the people heading in, and we've a better opportunity to reduce our unemployment rates. But it's all a red herring, it's such a minor impact on the finances, it's more cost effective to focus on the causes rather than the symptoms.

That's debatable, but if you follow the argument through to it's logical conclusion, everyone on the planet is an immigrant, therefore the whole PC/racism gravy train should be scrapped.

Without the immigrants our economy wouldn't have expanded to what it has, as the long term feckless wouldn't have taken many of the jobs on offer, same as they didn't pre the mid 2000's before the major influx started.

The people involved and those that initiated it say otherwise.

Yes, though I'm not sure how you guessed that.

Also Poland, Portugal and Holland if you go back five or six generations.

    Politicians, NGO's etc etc.

The whole 'blame those on benefits' argument is a total red herring.

Who's 'blaming' them? I'm simply saying many of them are taking the piss and it's not right, as it isn't. Same as those evading tax at the other end of the spectrum. Simply saying it's not a big deal and turning a blind eye isn't right on either issue.
