It is. But Scunthorpe isn't fair because you can't write it on here without being cencored.

I don't condone Gray's comments but what do his twitter comments have to do with football? The difference is nowt to do with comparisons with the racism incidents mentioned bevause they either happened on the pitch or were related to footballing events.

I havent researched Gray's comment tbh so if it was football related then fair enough. If not then it's the job of the police not the FA.

Also, I'm pretty sure the FA brought in punishment for twitter comments at some point. Prior to that they didnt comment on them. It was only when things got out of hand with players tweeting **** that they announced they would take action. So is it "fair" that they're handing out retrospective punishments for incidents prior to their own watershed?

The police should have got involved if not the FA. Telling gay people should die on twitter is a crime. He's lucky he's only got s 4 match ban.

I do not condone any of the comments.
Nor do i condone threats of violence going into a book - oh hang on - and i generally like Him ( i know i am in the minority with that ), but i am certain that comments like that in a book should not be allowed.

Next time I commit a crime I'm going to ask if the FA can punish me instead <laugh>

It would be hard to accept the 4 match ban but I'll manage it.

Couple of points - his tweets were after the FA brought in their social media rules and while the comments might well need police investigation, they don't have to be football related for it to be the FA's business. <ok>

Why? Take out they are a footballer. If you posted stuff like that on your social media. Should your work not get involved and discipline you because the comments have nothing to do with work?

That's up to his club. They're his employer.

Doesn't matter whether you disagree or not. If your employer has strict rules about your social media use, you have to adhere or face the consequences. Homophobic, racist, sexist players aren't good for the game [or life in general]. The FA might be carp at a lot of things but they've got this one right imo. If Gray was a teacher, his employers would be equally right in handing down a punishment. Who wants their kids to be taught by someone with those life views? Add to that the fact that all players are aware of the FA's social media rules and he only has himself to blame.

    Rooney benched

If they still don't win it wasn't Mourinho's fault it was those horrible commentators who don't acknowledge his role in the history of English football enough

So it doesnt matter that I disagree but it does matter that you agree? <laugh>

Look mate they're not his employer, the club is. And I would say the FA get quite a lot right but in this instance they've got it wrong. As for your teacher analogy, a few years ago a number of teachers were found to be members of the BNP. It was individual schools who decided whether to action or not. Many didnt.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho: "Rashford plays, and Lingard plays. I knew the question would be Rooney, but the question should be Lingard and Rashford. Two young England players in the starting line-up. They are quick, the game is going to be intense and fast, the way they play they stretch the game. When our main striker is Zlatan we need fast people surrounding him.

"The last thing I want to do is to hurt players or create negative situations for them. In a normal football country with normal media, I would say there are 23 players with plenty of chances to play. Fresh people, we have another match on Thursday. If Rooney doesn't play today he plays the next one. It is a normal decision."

    <laugh> where's Shaw?

But the clubs sit under the FA as the governing body for that profession in this country.

Yes...I know what trebs is saying but fairly sure all football clubs have to sign up to certain standards and probably pass over this disciplinary issue to the fa as part of their membership of a league and the players are signing up to the same by entering a contract with a team that's signed up to an FA run league.

And it's not like Anti Racism and Bigotry haven't been heavily promoted by the FA over the last few years.

His comments were extreme and generalised...it wasnt "banter" with mate using inappropriate language it was an angry homophobic rant.
