It is now, 8 down. Shut up shop and make sure Somerset are champions.

 

Sky stupidly say overs remaining rather than balls. Anyway can't see this rate being reached with fielders back, so hopefully draw if not and Somerset win. Looks like just giving wickets away now though.

Middlesex wouldn't take any chance in their innings, and we take all the chances in ours. We should have shut up shop when it was out of reach.

 

Defence not up to it. Middlesex get away with it. Hard luck Somerset.

 

that's what comes of too many england players.

still, as they say, a strong yorkshire means a strong england. we lost it earlier in the season. so did somerset.

 

Good on both sides for trying to win.

May as well go down fighting than play out a draw!

Disappointed, I must admit. It was a great season, just too much in the end and other teams rising to their own challenges. If not us then pleased for Middlesex; some great performances. A big well done to Somerset, hell of a season for them.

Now let's see what Yorkshire can conjure up for next season.

I do find the photos of Strauss celebrating after Middlesex win totally inappropriate.
Considering the England call ups, injuries, overseas players getting called up for countries, was incredible performance to be involved until the end. At the beginning of the season, I'm sure we had 8 players unavailable due to England call ups, so we were basically playing a reserve team most of the season
