If we continue with our decent start to the season and find ourselves mid table at Christmas (unlikely but you never know), we are bound to get some interest in our squad. Most of the players performing well cost us relative peanuts (save for Snoddy), so would some big cash offers tempt us? Who do you think would be of interest? Robertson is the obvious one, but Davies has been outstanding and Clucas, if he stays on current form could pique interest from those looking for an English tough tackling midfielder.
I cant think of another ginger Premiership player... so that makes Cluclass (is that in general use now/ non copyright?) unique and even more expensive. Januarys eons off, lets hope we're relatively comfortable by then as we can say, no thank you, no need.
I thought Sidwell, then I thought no... then the ginger at Newcastle that used to be at Sunderland... couldn't think of any more.. unless you count a disastrous hair bleaching some of the black players have thats have gone tits up..
Tidy player but he's not ginger enough if you ask me. Look at Quinny. That's proper ginge. He even grew a beard in what must surely have been a deliberately comedic attempt to look like a leprechaun.
True but if we have any of the new owners being talked about then we will have no reason to sell. In fact it could be the opposite and we could be the club other players would like to come too.
The 'we have no reason to sell' bit is fine, except clubs will undoubtedly come in with huge fees (like we saw with Kante). The worry won't necessarily be if they don't bid, it's if the player wants to go to a bigger club. Even if we said "£20m for Clucas" (unlikely it would go that high, just an example), some bigger club might say fair enough and actually pay it.
I would say Robertson could attract some big money bids but as a LW rather than LB, where he still looks vulnerable as evidenced by the Arsenal and Stoke games most recently. But Clucas must have opened a few eyes at the big clubs...notably Wengers...after his brilliant performance against Arsenal. If Davies makes the England squad, as he should if Big Sam opens his eyes, his value should appreciate substantially. If Snoddy stays healthy he's another who could attract some big money. These four could be worth a combined 50 million + but I hope we hang on to all of them Robertson and Clucas have got their best years ahead of them, and Davies is the rock of our defense and an inspiration to the team as captain. Look how Swansea's defense has fallen apart without Ashley Williams.
But that's the point. It would take a stupid bid to make us do anything. Will anyone in our squad generate enough attention to make a stupid bid inside 4 months likely? That's a different story IMHO. With regard a player wanting out. The playing staff seem very happy ATM and they seem to be a very tight group without any jumpers (Let's be honest if we had a team full of jumpers they would havd jumped in 15/16 after we got relegated) and if we are doing as well as you asked in your original post then that will be the same come January. I can't see one of our players wanting to go anywhere.
