I am not going to explain all this yet again. Read up the thread and you'll see my comments on his interest. If I'm not engaging it's because I have to go and do some work some time today.
Nope. I just see flaws in managers and players that we have had ( and have). It isn't hate at all. Do I hate Poch for going to Spurs? Do I hate Poch at all? Nope. Do I hate Koeman going to Everton? Do I hate Koeman at all? Nope. But I can see how they (and others) could have done better while at Saints. Same with Puel when he is given enough time. I will say what I think his flaws are as well. That's the problem with the internet. If you aren't 100% happy with some one or something, you are called a "hater" or words to that effect. When in many cases it simply isn't the case. For the record I have only hated one person in my life and it isn't a person connected to football.
where on earth did I say that? He never gave them the opportunities. There was plenty of opportunities, he didn't use them. Claude has done more already.
I'll let it go, when Harry Reed wins a block tackle in the middle of the park and sends Hesketh forward, who then beats two Everton players all ends up before curling one into the top corner and then knee slides in front of the Everton dug out while pointing at the name on the back of his shirt to the lying Dutchman, on November 27th
I can see why Koeman was reluctant to play youngsters. Managers are under real pressure, every day, to get results right now, whereas giving youngsters a chance is often more of an investment in the future; a future the manager may not be around to see, especially if the next result, and the next one, don't go his way. However, if the manager has the balls to have a bit of faith in the youth, like Pochettino did here and at Spurs, and like Claude did last night, there's a good chance of seeing that faith rewarded.
Oh come on TSS.........Every team has to blood young players. That doesn't mean that he would keep them on for the full 90 minutes. The usual way is by bringing them on when in a winning scenario for 15-20 minutes. Just to give them a taste and experience. Granted there wouldn't have been that many opportunities to do that but there was a few. It just didn't happen mainly because the youngsters were not even on the bench or if they were they weren't used.
A fully fit Austin is gonna bang in 25+ goals this season. He's rusty at the moment, hence all the offsides and scuffed shots. You can see the frustration in his face. He seems to be laughing at himself out of desperation sometimes. But 4 goals in a week while being rusty, imagine when he is polished. Dirty!
And if last night's performance was anything to go by, Hesketh will be setting up about 20 of those. Exciting times.
If domestic cups constitute the only real opportunity to use players like Reed, then Puel so far hasn't been any different than Koeman. Koeman is getting blasted for not using Reed in PL games. He hasn't played a single minute under Puel, either.
How is this different than Puel so far? Targett is on the bench and Bertrand is playing now that he is healthy. Reed has not played a single minute of a Premier League game. Nor has anyone else from our academy. The only way in which some of the academy products are getting more opportunity under Puel is that some of them are backups. And owing to the fact that we are playing two games a week, they are getting some time in JPT (which was not possible under Koeman), and Euro Cup (which we are only participating in thanks to Koeman NOT playing the youth last year and going for it until the end). You guys are making way too big a deal about a manger playing a couple of young guys in a Cup match.
really not fair when some fans bring up stats about Messi playing for Barca at 17, or Bale or Ronaldo. Walcott inclusion in the England squad was just plain dumb. reed has it about him to be a good PL player, same with Hesketh but as his stength is in creating goals he will attract more interest (find it strange he has not been in many England squads, maybe the bigger, stronger but less skillful Chelsea dudes get the spots)
It's a good start, but I will say the same about Puel if Reed etc don't get a chance in a Prem or Euro game.
Puel's had what 5 league games? Koeman had 76, and multiple opportunities to bring young players on for the last 15-20 minutes of league games, which he never/very,very rarely did.
Penalties or not that's 4 goals in 3 games. How many would a "natural finisher" have scored in that time? If he carries on scoring better than 1 in 2 then he is just what we have been crying out for.
Fair enough, but knocking in penalties is not the same as scoring from open play. He is rusty and missing chances - I am not saying he isn't a good striker.
And so far in Puel's 5 league games, he hasn't done anything different than Koeman. So why is everyone so certain that Puel is better than Koeman when it comes to young players?
