Spurs' record against Liverpool isn't that good in this comp if my memory serves me well.

Spurs should have scored 6 then, it's what I wanted.

The point I'm trying to make is that there was doom and gloom amongst some on here that Kane is injured. Tonight it didn't matter and I feel it won't on Saturday either.

Mourinho complaining. He said the three defeats in a row is LVG's legacy and now a complaint about the ref.

Oh, ok. He's become a little boring and predictable, hasn't he?

Janssen, Son, N'Koudou, Sissoko and Dembele all together positively must be good.
Anyway, goodnight all. Good result but a lot of chances went begging, with a bit more luck somebody will soon be mugged.

Entirely wrong manager for United's philosophy and 'identity' anyway. He's a divisive 3-year manager who never succeeds without being able to spend big on transfers and wages and routinely ignores youth prospects. And though he often plays winning football its not quite always the most entertaining.

For a club that places so much pride in a self-manufactured identity of promoting youth, doing things 'the right way' especially in terms of recruitment and development, and playing entertaining football, it's an odd choice. All they're doing is delaying further swallowing of a bitter pill, putting off a rebuild for a few more years.

Absolutely lovely to see Onomah ran straight over to celebrate with Edwards and Walkes, whilst CCV & Winks quickly ran half the length of the pitch to join the celebrations before anyone else.

So touching to see the togetherness amongst the academy lads <hug>

I thought we were excellent last night, all of the starting 11 played the match as we would hope they would, it was a cup tie and they came out and played good football against what turned out to be very limited opposition. We got our intensity right from the start and really didn't give them a kick. Personally thought Winks was excellent controlled the game for us and together with Carroll they used the ball well. Lamela and Eriksen as the 'senior' players also set the right tone and were so far above the Gills players in terms of quality that it was almost embarrassing.

Once we got to 5 we did rather declare and play the game out but I am pleased that I was there to see Edwards come on and it was a good little cameo from the lad that will hopefully help his progress.

Must give a shout out to the Gills fans who I thought were excellent, if the players had matched the supporters passion it may have been a better match!

Yes, I thought a sixth could have been added in the last 20 minutes. It also took too long to open the scoring.

Really nice night down the Lane, one of those "feel good games".

To see CCV, Winks, Carroll and Onomah all in the starting line up was lovely, there's no better feeling than seeing players from the academy on the pitch.

Gillingham came as I pretty much expected, with the intention to shut up shop and hopefully counter and for the first 40 minutes they somewhat got away with the shutting up shop thanks to misses from CCV and Janssen but I felt it was inevitable that we'd score eventually, Gills didn't seem too interested in getting down the other end too much, Dack was kept quiet and Emmanuel-Thomas was stopped whenever he tried to make a run.

First goal was a world class hit from Eriksen, from where I sit you could see the swerve of the ball, not many keepers would've been able to stop that. Got a nice cheeky second as well after slotting it through Nelsen's legs. Was delighted for Janssen to open his account, he had two or three good chances in the first half and I loved how we were all really getting behind him, singing his name to the tune of "just can't get enough" and then chanting "you're gonna score in a minute" so to see that coolly taken penalty go in got a great cheer from the crowd, relief for him as well and now here's hoping it's the first of many - which I completely think is the case as he's getting in to so many good positions that eventually the 50-50 moments will turn in his favour. Favourite moment of the night for me was our fourth, is there a better sight in football - asides from winning a trophy - than seeing one of your own score their first competitive goal for the club? I don't think there is and what a moment for Josh, I absolute loved how the first people to celebrate with him were Edwards & Walkes on the sidelines quickly followed by a darting CCV and Winks plus Carroll, these lads have come through together and it was no doubt special for them all to celebrate what is no doubt a good friend as well as team mates' moment of glory. Lamela deservedly capped it off with the fifth having been the provider of three others, a real neat finish.

Edwards impressed when he came on, there's so much buzz around this kid and I thought he was going to make the dream debut with a goal after superb play from the wing but it wasn't to be thanks to a solid save from Nelsen. I'm hoping that in years to come, I can say "I was there when Edwards made his debut". Buzzing for Walkes to get a run out too, the guy is the proper utility man of the U21s, having played LB, CB, RB, DM, CM and even AM, having that versatility is only going to benefit him in time to come - just ask Eric Dier!

Thought the whole team played superbly, I know our opposition was of a much lower calibre but they're still a good professional side and I'm glad we took them seriously and didn't come in with the "hey we're a Prem side so we deserve to win to by playing poorly" attitude. MOTM for is a tough call, how do you pick out a stand out candidate from that dominant display? Janssen bullied their defence, Eriksen got two good goals, Onomah was superb and got his first goal, Carroll distributed nicely, Tripps delivered sublime crosses and won the penalty, CCV was a rock as was Wimmer, Lamela got three assists plus a goal and on a usual night that'd probably be enough to earn him the champagne but for me I'm gonna give it to Winks, to make your first start and completely boss the whole of the pitch, dictating the tempo, getting up and down and covering pretty much every blade of grass while always wanting to be on the ball is incredible to see from someone so young, being a passionate Spurs fan and relatively local lad, it's a joy to see from a fan's perspective and I hope it'll give the likes of Dembele, Dier, Wanyama and Sissoko a little reminder that while he's young, he's going to be right on their heels pushing for a place in that midfield - you can see why Poch has allowed Mason and Bentaleb to leave.

Well done lads, great night <ok>

Well done lads <applause> my team deserved nothing but a whipping last night, I was at the game and while we the supporters showed great passion, my team did not. I expected us to lose to you guys and even thoughts of 5-0 did cross my mind pre-match, it's not the defeat that matters against Premiership opposition, I would have been happy to lose six or seven nil, if we at least showed some blood and guts as a team. Sadly another game where a big Gills following turns up but the team does not. JET, Wright and a few others can **** right off as far as i'm concerned and take JE back across the bridge to Wales, despite being lower league we were truly awful.

Now, do I take that as a compliment or is it sarcasm? Even the commentator said"At last Spurs score."
