I liked him from day one, I've defended him relentlessly against posters who referred to him as 'Clueless'. Good lad and he's done it the bloody hard way, which makes me believe he'll continue on this curve. He knows what rejection is like, on more than one occasion.
You play for England when you show you can do do it every game... and keep it up. Consistency. Here's hoping! (Some have played for England on a lot less, I know, but a cap should matter!)
He's been superb, has managed several steps up in league quality.. who am I to say whether he's good enough for Ingerland? If he does get an invite then go for it Sam!
It's testament to his rise that Sam was rested tonight for a League Cup game so he's fresh for Liverpool on Saturday!! Now who would have predicted that when he signed?
I did and he was. Or just played out of position? And now he is playing well and great credit to him. Let's hope he can keep it going.
Agreed, he never once looked out of his depth, which is credit to his rather monumental rise. Even now he looks right at home. He suffered a dip in form around October, but adjusting to the league was always going to be a big ask and the way he's taken to the PL is really impressive.
tbh I never knew he was called Clueless. I think there were other more noticeable players that were more ****ing useless.
In fairness to Sam he's been learning on the job as he moved up a league almost every season. Long may his journey continue.
I'll admit there were games last season where I thought he wasn't that good when playing on the left but I've every game he's played in as a defensive midfielder he's been brilliant. Definitely his best position. He's made some drastic position changes throughout his career even though he's young, from a left-back to a striker to a left-midfielder and now a holding central midfielder. Let's hope he keeps performing the way he is in his new position.
