Holy crap we're turning on the manager already? We deserve to be trapped in this viscous circle

Should he have dug into his own pocket like to fund it? Chairman sets the budget, Our CEO works the budget, Moyes Identifies the targets. Do you think for one second any manager on this planet wouldn't have wanted to sign a striker had they been in charge of Sunderland? Of course they would. But transfer deadline came and went without a sniff of a link to a striker.

Not sure how Moyes has let himself down there on any level here. Stands to reason he would have signed one had the budget been there. He's bemoaned the striker situation so he's very aware of it. So how has he let himself down?

I don't mind Moyes being dour in front of the cameras, I'd rather that then someone who can't shut up and says more than they should.

You'll see me criticise him from time to time on here when I feel it's warranted but in no way have I turned on him, we're in it for the long haul and he's barely got started.

I've got no doubt that there will have been a budget for a striker (or even strikers) there, so I don't believe that that was an issue at all . . . . the issue would have been to 'sell the club' to a striker(s) at a very late stage ('cos of the incompetents at the F.A.) when discussions for potential targets would have been started by other clubs a long time before we were able to :emoticon-0112-wonde

Sam will have identified his targets, which would probably not have been the same as Moysey's, so we were up against it from the start :emoticon-0101-sadsm

I don't believe for one second there are individual budgets for positions. I believe there's one budget and the CEO had to work Transfer, wages and Agent fees from it and 100% believe there wasn't enough in the kitty to address everything that needed it. Like there wasn't the summer before, or the summer before that.

Loads of strikers moved on in the latter part of the window so I don't buy that we couldn't 'sell the club' to one. I think it's much more likely that the club couldn't work one into the budget.

Basing it on players body language something's not right the commitment show since he arrived has been poor at best. As for Kone's contract it's stupid to assume he's happy here because he's signed one he'll be off in a shot if the opportunity arises contract or not.

If this comment is directed at me then I think you've got the wrong end of the stick on my comments.
I'm trying to defend the bloke and only pointed out the striker situation which wasn't meant as a criticism of the manager, I perhaps didn't word it very well.

My main gripe I have with Moyes is his inability to speak well in front if the media, take last Sunday for instance but I can live with that and am happy to give him the time he deserves even if that runs into next season, the bloke has been here for such a short time and I think fans on here should give him a bit if slack.

An inability not to be drab in front of cameras doesnt make a poor manager. Its supposed to be a sport not a media circus.
