As I said, Lidl linguine is fantastic, but that's the best news of all.

Thanks for all the kind comments, about my wife. After 41 years of marriage, she's almost like one of the family now. <whistle>
Saint Helen, not sure about Aldi F&Veg, but Lidl depots do spot checks on every pallet delivered, for ripeness, quality and size, with an open policy of taste testing the fruit. I definitely had my 5 a day during my training.
Looking forward to when we go fully operational when there are "free fruit" days, when staff can take home whatever fruit is put in the canteen, for this purpose. Not individual items, but bag/bunches/punnet etc, on top of our 10% discount card.

Best wishes to your wife and you in your new job.

A few years ago a lidl was built at the bottom of our road in a residential area. Proved popular but impressed with the speed and efficiency in how it was built. It was literally an empty plot of land one day and the shell was up the next all weather proof. Great workmanship.

Went past that new depot today on my way to a customer. Jeez, it's enormous.

I like what Lidl and Aldi do, but especially Lidl. I like their tight working model. I see no extravagant excess. Yet, quite rightly, they are far from being the lowest wage payers either. When I used to walk into Tesco. I'd see big LCD screens advertising to me, whilst I knew the employees were being poorly paid. I consider that an insult because I've paid for that advertising and nobody is benefiting except Tesco and their advertisers. Not anymore. In Lidl and Aldi, products are core, often experimental, offered on a special basis, and very often European. And the European element is the thing that really does it for me. My diet is quite close to Mediterranean, and Lidl back that up very nicely at an extremely competitive price indeed, almost always with a superior product, price for price, if you can find a comparison. What's not to like.?.

You discover just how big it is after walking from one end to the other, a few times a day. It should keep me fit, although the walking will lessen when working within set departments, and ride on, manual handling equipment comes into play.
The storage capacity, within the racking, is around 27,500 pallets, but we will operate on about 19,000, most of which is due to be delivered in the next 5/6 weeks, so busy times ahead.
As we're not yet operational, the depot is only currently open Mon-Fri, so based on the above figures, we need nearly 600 full lorries, to get ready for opening.
Wages at Lidl are the "Living wage", not the minimum wage, so another plus there.

Thanks! As a pastafarian i concour with you. Linguine over Spaghetti and to me Rigatoni over Penne. I normally go for Napollina pasta, but I'll give Lidl a try [emoji3]

Any smokers on here!! If there are, you can join the campaign to quit on the first of October. I stopped for a second time in June last year, apart from one in September and a few over Xmas and New Year. Since then, nada. I would say it takes about six months to a year to think that one is a non smoker after stopping.

Keep strong. The lapses mean you have to start all over again. And think how much better your mouth tastes since you stopped, You will smell nicer and soon the cool autumn will hit those lungs of yours.

Have actually just decided to stop, i'm not a massive smoker normally only when on the golf course or having a few beers, Big test will be this weekend when i've got a 36 hole golf competition and a mates 40th birtday party.
