But no idea what was said though. We don;t know for certain that Denayer was telling him that. It could be that he's said "Gaffer wants a word Patrick" and Moyes may have already planted the seed. Spitballing but all in all I have no idea
He used the term "It was a medical thing" after the game. Which covers the club with the FA - if he wasn;t injured, it would have had to be one of our substitutions.
I seem to remember Niall Quinn mentioned something about a rumour that he had a head injury from Monday night and they may have seen something in the warm up to indicate that he was not quite right. I know concussions can come on days after the event so this could be true but having seen Moyes's interview I am suspicious.
Surely he could have just told PVA to stay back in defence more if that was his concern, he's a decent defender most of his cock ups come from being caught out of position when he goes forward.
Aren't the new guidelines on concussion pretty strict and if this was the case then PVA shouldnt have been anywhere near WHL never mind within minutes if starting the game. Why can't the club just come out and tell us the reason so we can all put this to bed, if he was injured then what's the big secret.?
Yeh manq is better at right back I'll reserve judgement on Denyer I've still to see anything in him Having said that the rest of them have a lot to prove. I feel the next three games may give use some clue of our future . I'm sure we will be ok
He's defo ****ed up, if he was injured Moyes wouldn't be secretive about it. He'd just say 'He's hurt his calf' or whatever it was... but he's not, he's lying, he's almost admitting he's lying.
Interesting seeing Moyes comments: “We advised the referee very late on. I got word of something very late. People can get injured in the warm-up. “It meant we had to change. We got Jason Denayer some game time. Javier Manquillo went to the left and did OK. So from that point of view we did what we thought was the right thing to do.”
Clever use of words, he never says people can get injured in the warm-up but doesn't specifically say that is what happened to PVA. Or maybe I'm just overthinking it.
PVA's face/reaction doesn't suggest he's been injured in the warm up, if he has, it looks like he was the last to know about it
A manager does not cut his nose off to spite his face. If Van Aanholt has ****ed up somehow then he deserves this. if he was hurt he's right to be replaced (I don;t think he was injured personally) Here's a conspiracy theory. Van Aanholt was warming up on the pitch with one of the coaches behind him. Said to Manquillo "****ing hate playing for this Moyes, let's get him sacked by playing ****" or he says "I had a class night out last night, strippers were great but feeling crappy today after that much booze" If he has made his mouth go in earshot of a coach then I have no problem - maybe Moyes would prefer to keep it between him and van Aanholt - which, if it is something stupid like a hangover, I agree with - don;t need the fans turning on the player. PVA was on the "bench" though (I mean physically, not team wise)
