One for the conspiracy theorists on here. What happened? Strange to be pulled out like that, and a player having to tell him and not the coaching staff. Then Moyes vague manor.
Bang out of order IMO. Paddy had no idea and was warming up just fine as if he was going to start. For whatever reason injury/tactics etc Moyes or one of his disciples should have pulled him to one side not Denayer in the middle of the warm up. If I were PVA and the player replacing me told me I'd be furious. Not professional at all. Apart from the fact we then had a CB playing right back and a right back playing left back, I do hope it wasn't a tactical move. I'll eat my words though if there was a genuine explanation to it all though. Don't think we'll get it mind you.
IF that's the case, I hope the Tea Lady can play a bit, cause we are that short of numbers we may well need her.
To me it looks like Moyes is having teething trouble, ie the M'Vila, Younis, Lens, Khazri, Kone, and now PVA mysteries, all very Alan Brown.
If he was out on the drink the night before? Nobody except Moyes and PVA know the story. If he's made his mouth go at the manager and said something like "You can't drop me" I think Moyes has played a blinder. If he was out on the piss on Saturday again I think the bos has got it spot on. About time the players knew who was in charge. If the same situation had been here and Allardyce had done it, most would probably say "He must've had a reason" instead of saying it was unprofessional. I think there must be a reason for him doing that - he's a form player who's been playing well for us at left back - one of very few. So to drop him without reason would be silly. but I reckon he's shagged Steve Bruce's daughter
Zaha was rumoured to have pumped Moyes' daughter I think, he never played for us after that. He also turned up for his medical in a T-shirt with Imogen Thomas on, he never got off to the best of starts, poor Willy.
She couldn't be any worse than Denayer, he was shown his arse by Son yesterday, plus she'll come in handy at half time as well.
It was very unprofessional mate, he put Denayer right on the spot and for whatever the reason, either Moyes or one of the coaching staff should have had the balls to do the dirty work. The gaffers job comes with responsibilities.
I reckon it was a tactical thing. Moyes probably looked at the Spurs side and thought we needed a more rigid defence- someone less likely that Van Aanholt to go on forays forward. Based on his comments and attitude in interviews though, it does seem that understanding the way he comes across to other people is not one of his strengths. In short, while he might be a good tactician, his man management may not be great.
But surely he cant just change the squad that close to kick off, without a valid reason. Doubt 'oh spurs look strong' is gonna cut it with the FA.
