i still dont think he will put that amount of money in - was proabably used by BE/FB to stir up interest or maybe try and get the Mittals to put a higher bid in..... just my thoughts... COYR's
I suppose if he puts money for players up front now, that's welcome, but long term, the last thing we need is a fourth shareholder. The Mittals must be feeling pretty marginalised, since Fernandes is a Goon ally. No idea whether the Mittals will keep their shareholding if Fernandes does buy out the Goons at the end of the season. Everything up in the bloody air, and not what we wanted at the start of the season. Still, I think NW's doing well with what little he has had to play with so far, and we will be competitive from Aug 13 onwards.
All hypothetical, but couldn't this turn out to the Mittals advantage? If they can work with Fernandez, or if Fernandez loses interest and decides to sell quickly, that's potentially 53% of the club that we're talking about. Then who'd be marginalised? The Goons I reckon.... Just a thought.
Fernandes: Get on the board and invest pronto or clear off and get out of the way of someone who does want to buy the club.
It's a possibility - at the moment, Fernandes is tight with the Goons. May be not so tight now though, if the report is true, since Eccles seemed to be clear recently he wanted to divest himself of most of his interest (he may have German criminal charges to fight). If football ownership was food, this would be a bowl of spagetti...
TONY Fernandes has dipped a tentative toe into QPR water by agreeing to buy a 20 percent stake – but does not intend to take over entirely until the end of the season at the earliest. In exchange for the shares, the airline mogul and Lotus Formula I chief is however ready to sink £15million into the club – sold him by Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore. The pair currently control around 67 percent, with the final 20-odd percent owned by billionaire Lakshmi Mittal. Amit Bhatia, then vice chair and son-in-law, resigned from the board at the end of May angered by the price hike when Mittal put in a bid for Ecclestone and Briatore’s stake – both of whom have been looking for a buyer since the beginning of the year. West Ham fan Fernandes is expected to join the board imminently, and will take 10 percent from each of the motor racing chiefs, with boss Neil Warnock warming to the idea of extra income around the corner. “I met Tony in Italy, and he is a very nice chap,” said the manager, “myself, Flavio and Tony all had a positive chat after the match last Saturday. "We've already spoken about possible targets and he is a very positive man." Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest QPR news. Cerny Any additional info coded or not?, is mordy still working away in the background?, if he was going to buy the muppets 69% shares, whats he saying/doing now considering that 20% of those are now gone?
'Fernandes is expected to join the board imminently, and will take 10 percent from each of the motor racing chiefs...' Odd this 'cos Ecclestone's made clear that his and Briatore's shares are tied. If all this is true it would suggest that £20m bought 20% of the club and the Goons' share is now something like 43%, against Mittal's 32% or so and Fernandez' 20%. Does Paladini own the remaining 5%? That means Ecclestone Briatore must trust Fernandez with the balance of control / power. If it all comes apart like it did with Mittal, the Goons will lose both power and stock value. F1 blood thicker than non-F1 water?
Exactly my thoughts Brixton. Now we have the spectre looming large of 4 different owners two who want out but not without a big pay back, one whose nose is seriously out of joint and has lost all interest and one who just doesn't have the funds to get the job done. No way will Fernandes invest £15m in the club in addition to his partial share buy out without a controlling interest.
