In fairness to the lad, he's barely had five minutes to play so any chance he gets is magnified several times. It's about time he had a start. If Kane is injured, he may get his wish
Alli joining in with the dumbfest. Why shoot from there? Easy chance to either kill it off or see it out.
OK so not a pretty performance but we got the result required. When we look back, that's all that will matter. A win, clean sheet and three points.
1-0 FT. Pickford ends the game the way he played it, with another decent save. A rather mixed performance, but I'll take that narrow win. Loads of possession and chances, but we didn't kill it off and we tired as the game went on. Injury issues and our poor finishing take the shine off another win. Nice to get back to taking the points, though.
The percentage play by the team to date this season has been very poor. Much more room for improvement, yet 11 pts after 5 games.
Thank **** that's over. I wonder what we'll have left by way of a squad in a further 2 weeks? Still, 3 point is 3 points and we're third.
I doubt he'll play in the League Cup, so others will have opportunities to make a claim for a place in the team. Various other players need to be left out too, as we look very leggy and slow towards the end of games.
Son MOTM with Walker a close second. Bloody hell we make life difficult for ourselves don't we? Should've been 6-0 by FT but I'll gladly take the 3 points and clean sheet, up to 3rd and our best start to a season in 12 years. The catalogue of injuries is worrying - hamstrings simply should not be pinging this early in the season. Kane's ankle sadly looks like a 4-6 week job which may actually be a blessing in disguise for both him and Janssen. And a special mention to Mr Moyes for teaching us all how to count to ten while holding the ball. Bellend.
And sometimes, when the team isn't firing on all cylinders, that's all that's required. I'll settle for that.
Take the three points. Plenty of room for improvement. Think that performance shows why comparing Son unfavourably with Chadli is not fair. I think this team has needed more creativity for a few seasons and Chadli just never provided it. Son offers more as a player - he will take people on, have a trick when necessary, see a pass and has a very decent finish on him too. He just looks an overall more classy player to Chadli to me. Walker again excellent. One of the few concerns I have about Walker is that he's the sort of player who would try to play on with a tight hamstring so I'm glad that didn't turn into anything. Decent contributions from Wanyama and Sissoko too. Could see that Sissoko is still feeling his way into his role on the right for us but him and Walker on the right is a decent amount of strength, pace and directness.
As comprehensive a 1-0 as you can get. Worth playing two up front against a team who offer nothing going forward
