Alex Iwobi is fast looking like a regular starter for Arsenal, with some really solid, strong and effective performances for us. He's a player I like because he always wants to go forward and find gaps for us to penetrate, and although he's a completely different type of player in style and physical attributes, there is a little bit of Robert Pires about him in that his first instinct is to either find a player in an attacking position, or to create space for a player to find him in an attacking position. I really hope he can continue to develop as he has been with the first team and start adding some goals to his game too, because whilst it's a bit early to call it, he could become a really important attacking player for us. He's already ahead of Oxlade-Chamberlin for me and I think he's very close to cementing his place in the team. Keep up the good work Iwobi
Yes he is for sure different from what we normally got. Initially I thought he would never make it but now I would def put him in a starting 11. He is strong, skillful, hardworking and knows how to interlink with the rest of the guys. Only injuries can stop this guy I think!
You can not compare home to my 2nd favourite player of all time otherwise I will block you. Apart from that, I totally agree. Work rate, skill, agility, team work, passing, and eye for movement all exceptional. Without a doubt our best wide player apart from Alexis. Sell ox and Theo (although he bothered to turn up today) Iwobi and Sanchez our top wide players with Giroud up top.
I was saying yesterday - Iwobi still needs to help out his fullback more when we're defending and needs to work on his finishing, but honestly, he can be an amazing player for us. He's shown so much maturity and intelligence at such a young age. I'm still quite miffed that we loaned out Campbell and sold Gnabry, yet kept Chamberlain, but at least Iwobi looks like he has a real chance of making it with us. We've got some good young players coming through. We shouldn't put too much expectation on them, but the likes of Iwobi, Bielik, Reine-Adelaide, Willock, Maitland-Niles and Holding could all be very important players for us in years to come. I just hope they remain patient and don't ask to leave if they don't get the game time they want to.
Definitely. Against PSG he left Monreal to get skinned by Aurier. Hopefully that game will act as a marker for him to work on that part of his game.
If Iwobi works on the defensive side of his game and keeps improving as he ages we could have a special one on our hands. Good for both Arsenal and Nigeria.
Good post, but I did see signs of him improving on that yesterday and as I am currently watching the game again, you can hear monreal call his name and he drops back on a throw. Huge potential.
