Not a bad second half by our lads, we came out and started putting pressure on Cardiff, we were more tighter in midfield picking up more loose balls and bad passes from Cardiff as the half progressed. Was a slowish game in both halves, nothing to squeeze your bum cheeks about but we persevered and a great goal by Hernandez into the top right hand corner of goal sealed the win for Leeds. Watching Hernandez play I could see he was looking for those touch passes and his experience was showing more in this game. The defence played well together again, Jansson and Bartley together seem to be a good partnership, especially with Jansson as a CB who played yet another solid game. We still need to be tighter in midfield, especially against the bigger teams. We beat Blackburn and Cardiff and both are on bottom of league table, progress will be seen if and when we beat the bigger teams. We still need more shots on goal, first half saw Cardiff have the better and more chances which they failed to convert. Big scare when Green came too far out of his goal, the ball went over him and Cardiff failed to score in an open net, lucky break for Leeds. 2 wins back to back means we are now on a winning streak and temporarily in 14th position. The bigger teams will test us, let's not get too carried away. Blackburn next in cup on tuesday.........
I think we were far better than that report sounds. A rock solid defence, Cardiff rarely tested Green except for two attempts off the post. The defence unrecognisable from last seasons. Hernandez and Sakkho both clear threats and Wood played the lone striker role superbly. Would have had another had Hernandez played him in instead of going it solo. I said all along, ten games were needed to properly judge this team and Monks performance. So far, I like the direction were heading
You totally forgot to mention Wood's superbly taken penalty and good all round play Did it piss you off he scored?
We'll be tested against the bigger teams Eire, we need to improve performances still for when we come up against them.....
I was not impressed by Leeds in the first half , but as confidence grew I think we saw Gary Monks influence emerging. The defence is looking stronger which will lead to more consistency. The season is beginning to take shape.
To a degree LL, you're right. But overall the defence is better. We're creating a style of play which is helping to create plenty of chances. All in all, we'll be ready for when the big teams come calling
