The hat-trick against Porto, the last minute winners against Wolves and Hull City, the goals against Barcelona... And, of course, who can forget this:
United 1-2 City. FT. Tight game in the end, but fair result. City looked very good going forward and defensively. After United halved the deficit, City managed to hold on and looked threatening on the counter. Probably should have scored a couple more goals, but United were slightly wasteful in front of goal, too. I make that Guardiola 8-3 Mourinho.
City looked scarily good (and this without Aguero!). And it can only get better I guess. Unless injuries stop them.
Hmm I dunno. City had some good chances to wrap it up with a third too. Just imagine if Aguero was playing.
May have completely changed the flow of their game and de Bruyne might not have been as effective. Sometimes things just click as they are
Listening to the game on 5 Live and from the commentary that John Murray is providing is that Liverpool play with pace and press up on the opposition. Complete change from the Liverpool side that was outclassed by a very clever Sevilla in the Europa League final.
Liverpool could be worth a shout this season, different class to every team we've played. Burnley beat us, but that was a freak if you watch the game.
While Liverpool may not have the individual talent of City, they seem to have a fantastic desire. Commentators are predicting top 4, I would go for top 2 and maybe number 1, as City will go far in the Champions League, while Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal build attacks much more slowly. And Tottenham will continue to be Tottenham.
We're only half way through September mate. If you can keep up this form until Feb/March then you might be worth a shout.
We have NO distractions and one of the best managers in football. We're a tough team to beat and will score lot's of goals. Optimistic I know, but also some realism. Our high pressing and quick counter play is refreshing. Defence is the only potential downfall, but Matip looks class (so far). Him and Lovren have got a good thing going.
