That was always the excuse. I saw it as an opportunity to spout no end of vile rubbish. The other thing Speight wrote was this below. They claimed that was also to highlight the absurdity of racism.
It's dangerous to try to judge anything coming out of the 70s by today's standards. Today, for example, we don't need to cast the same knowing eye over these types of characters, because they are no longer permitted to peddle their racism so openly. I don't think that any intelligent man or woman on the planet took Alf Garnet seriously. He was created as a figure of fun for people to laugh at, and that is what intelligent viewers did.
But he became a popular character. I know we were invited to laugh at him, but too many laughed with him.
I have little doubt that there were (and still remain) those who viewed Alf Garnet as some kind of BNP spokesperson, but I think they are very much in the minority. The fight against racism in the UK started during the early 70s, and it was the airing of prejudice and the nature of prejudice, through the medium of comedy that set us all on the path to where we now find ourselves. Isn't it better to flush all of our irrational hatred out into the open where it can be examined under the harsh light of reality, than to keep it locked away to fester in the dark recesses of Society?
West Ham are concerned they spent too much on French left-back Arthur Masuaku, 22, when they paid Greek side Olympiakos £6.2m for him during the summer. (Daily Mail) Talk about imbuing the lad with confidence!
It's a bit of a ****ty headline. It appears that Olympiakos haven't been entirely honest about the payments. Some of the money that West Ham have paid appears to have gone to unregistered agents or something similar. They're keen to avoid that kind of thing, for some reason. please log in to view this image
The police have refused the request to be present inside the recently built Olympic Stadium on match days as the infrastructure inside is obsolete. No doubt that will be blamed on us as well
And so it should be in part at least, West Ham have a duty of care to their fans. It may well be the stadium owners responsibilty to upgrade the radio system so that the plod will attend but as a club you have plenty of money so get the job done and then deal with recovering the money from the stadium owners. You've then done your part. Same with segregation stop cramming people in and get the segregation organised properly. There's a blame game going on but as a club you should stand up and do your bit, your main priority should be the fans and not bitching at all the problems and crying that it's not your fault.
we're not allowed BY LAW to make alterations to the stadium, they MUST be done by the owners, is that too hard for you to grasp?
Then you should have insisted the necessary equipment was installed before the season started. Sounds like it was a massive oversight on your behalf, as it's you that have to ensure that the place you're choosing to play your home games complies with all the necessary football requirements. The place looks like a soulless bowl btw, with the side where the TV cameras are being miles away from the pitch. Made up tbh, as the porn peddlers and Brady have robbed the thing, and it's ended up being a bit ****.
I didn't know that so fair enough but you can apply the pressure needed to get this done, make it public knowledge and push for them to sort it out for the safety of the fans.
Is there any LAW preventing your club from taking action against the scumbag element among your fanbase?
Sweet Jesus, Little Urn! Who was your club's lawyer? This is contract law 101 (as the Yanks might say)!
Wow! I bet Little Urn never saw that one coming! He'll be back windmilling like a bastard, in a minute, PNP!
What's paying for something have to do with the contractual legality of making alterations? as if to prove my earlier point, you once again show your lack of legal knowledge. I can afford to pay for a statue of myself a place it in the middle of a road, that doesn;t mean I will be allowed to, unless given permission. You are an imbecile.
