Aguero has just scored a hat trick against B/Munchengladbach! IMAGINE what he would do to us if that's not to difficult?
Nothing wrong with my ability to imagine, ILD, but it doesn't create the demons for me that it seems to do for you. Perhaps we're different in that regard.
We've got to get there first! With 39 games to go, I fail to understand the assumption it will happen? Don't get me wrong, the early season optimism among some fans is admirable, but as more of a pragmatist / realist.....
Given the angst on here at the moment about our hanging on to the last two wins, spare a thought for Villa fans who've just seen their side concede a win over Brentford in the 88th minute. Some times the result matters more than a hypothetical possibility. Villa now have half the points we have and McCormack went off injured as well.
Puts things into perspective a bit Rick. Also, look at the money Wolves have forked out on players and they're one place above Villa.
Sometimes we need to remember that football is a game (I know, I hate it when my wife says that to me) and that chance is involved. It's curious just how far out many of the pre-season predictions have been, with the exception of Newcastle and ourselves so far.
Opposites are okay RER, I just watch the games in front of me, and I'm very worried. I don't see any improvement from last season, others seem to be optomistic, I just don't see it at this time!
Apologies Rick and everyone if I appear to be come across as a bit negative and 'harbinger of doom' recently, but had we held on to beat Cardiff 2 - 0 (with 5 minutes left?) and Wigan by the same scoreline, I'd be the first to applaud decent wins. But when week after week we show late game fragility, nerves, soft underbelly and the game and the result becomes tense, then any talk of "promotion push" is, imho, premature and pretty ill-advised. It gets tiring doing the hard work (attaining promotion) and then with our woeful recent transfer window record, watching us become cannon fodder the next season is not good for my constitution
I seem to remember we were in losing or neutral positions in games many many times under Paul Lambert only to score "lucky" late goals on our way to promotion. This year we seem to have the game wrapped up by half time only to be pegged back in the second to hold on. They are both bad on the nerves but as long as we keep getting the wins I won't grumble. McGovern kept us in it on Tuesday and I can't remember the last time Ruddy did that.
There will always be those of us who tend to be optimists (with glasses half full) and those who are pessimists (with glasses half empty) and that is natural. What bothers me is when an impression or feeling is presented as a FACT (as ColU Mike used to say). If we had been playing scintillating football these last two games, the pessimist could say 'Ah yes, but what happens when the scintillating football stops?' while the optimists get carried away with 'We're going to win the league'. As it is, we've been winning games without playing at our best, which suggests to me that we could get better as players return to fitness after injury. You seem to think that this level of play is the best we can do and that things will never improve. The answer is probably somewhere in between. Forest tomorrow will be our next indicator.
Fair comment Rick and I feel our toughest test will be when we play at SJP on Wed 28 (No idea why it should be on a Wednesday!!) That's then followed by a trip to Molineux in front of the Sky cameras on Saturday!!!
No Luck Rick - it's showing on the fixtures list as Sky - http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/fixtures-and-results An excerpt from an article on the BBC website by Rachel Brown-Finniss, former England Goalkeeper – perhaps AN and his coaching could take a leaf out of Leicester’s book and so prevent so many injuries happening. Something needs to be done!!! "The concern before this campaign started was that the Foxes would struggle to cope with being in Europe because they can no longer pick the same 11 players every week like they did last season. But I commented at the time that they were able to do that because their backroom staff were obviously monitoring their players really well - always looking ahead and being pro-active in preventing injuries rather than reacting to them when they were happened. The Leicester coaches will have to modify their approach to deal with the demands of Champions League football - looking at factors such as where they are travelling, how far, plus when and how they train." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37366826
I meant the Newcastle match, Braveheart. Like you say, it's strange that it's the only match on Wednesday when neither team plays the previous Sunday (the usual reason for a switch). I agree with you about the injuries as we've had far too many. I can understand Jarvis, as he needed an operation, but many of the others seem to be muscle related. I do think Leicester were fortunate with injuries last year, but perhaps they do have top sports scientists and physios. Let's hope it's just an anomaly and injuries will lessen as the season goes on.
I think he's fit enough, but he just hasn't had any match play or pre-season games. His time will come, possibly as sub tomorrow.
