If Duffen ends up having any position of authority in any new ownership structure, how would that be viewed by the Fit & Proper reviewers of any takeover ?
Really feel we need a clean break from the recent history of owners and their aides, personally I have no issues with either of the Chinese groups buying the club, but to have Duffen return in any other capacity I feel would not only be a backward step, but one which would fuel the feelings of distrust among the majority of supporters. Given his previous tenure, and subsequent findings of mismanagement and self gorging at the club`s expense after his departure, would any consortium doing their homework really employ such a man ?
He wouldn't be an owner, so he wouldn't have to face the test, but he's never been convicted of anything so he'd have no problem even if he did.
So far we've had going in 24 hours, before the season starts, tomorrow, next week, 48 hours and six weeks. Is this a good time for a reminder that a few of us on here said they wouldn't sell. The ****s that they are. ( The Allams that is, not those who said they wouldn't sell )
Funny all this talk about Duffen I heard earlier from a very reliable source he's working very closely with a new consortium interested in buying the club. He's in line to become our new CEO. Scary stuff.
Unless Duffen's an investor over I think 30% then he has nothing to do with fit & proper! As far as I'm aware, going off what I've read regarding fit & proper in the past, in a generalisation, quick summary. The owners must have: No dodgy money scenarios. No criminal convictions anywhere regarding money. No criminal convictions. A viable financial plan to cover up to & including the end of the following season. That's the basics as far as I know, although I'm sure others will put me straight on anything wrong & add anything further. So Duffen could be a convicted criminal & as long as the owners are ok with him working for them, then that's their risk not F&P. All this F&P does make me wonder how Cellino ever got allowed at Leeds?
I get what you mean but honestly, Duffens in a whole different league of untrustworthy and you know it. At least the Allams let you know what they REALLY thought of you. Duffen would be whispering sweet nothings in your ear while picking your pockets. I'm still bemused by the small handful who say "I've met him, he was really charming and a nice fella". Crazy fools.
Another wonderfully insightful response from you. I'm sure no one will notice it's exactly the same as the previous 49 weird rants.
So I'm really confused. Are the first consortium (Dai Yeung) out of the running now? Jim White suggested it'd be done in 48 hrs, that can surely only mean the this first consortium, as most of their due diligence process is complete (even if it needed rescuing). The Duffen brokered 2nd consortium's due diligence would be at the beginning of the process, so several weeks for completion?
And thereby is the problem, he comes over as a charming man and gets people confidence, but in reality, he just blags his way through jobs.
I suspect the first consortium are not fully out of the picture, but they had exclusivity up to last Friday, which has now lapsed. Now the field is open again, so I would think that the Allam's will be playing one off against the other, assuming the first lot remove the problems they had with the fit and proper persons situation with the PL.
The Due Diligence for the first wil be pretty much mirrored by any subsequent ones, so time is saved by prior preparation; how much is dufficult to say, but quite a bit.
