To be fair, the lad is still a handy weapon if used off the bench against tiring defenders. Hope Moyes realises quickly.

As for Rodwell, he rose to the challange imo. He had to carry the Hoff who understandably looked very rusty. Hoff gave the ball way constantly and struggled in the challenge but Rodwell stuck close and was mopping up well. 85% passing accuracy the lad had and played an exquisite ball though to Defoe from deep. Most assured display on the ball as I've seen from Rodders. Lot of people seem to have missed it. But then it's a position where you get on with the job quietly so quality of performance is often missed.

Here's how Squawka had the ratings up till the 57th minute when Khazri came on. I think it reflects what I saw. We did look good and were well in the game.

Where I disagree is I thought Gooch did a bit better than rated there and I thought Januzij was the best player we had on the pitch. Squawka ratings are based on statistical contribution.

I think that their ratings are about right, both are a little bit away from being premier league players. They are playing because our options are woeful right now. Just Hope Catts gets back quicker than predicted.

I think Gooch will go further in the game than Watmore. We need Duncan terrorising tired defenders in the later part of the game. Not being channeled down blind allies by fit defenders for 60 minutes.

It's heartbreaking when you think at the time we spent the £10M on that Plank when we could have got Ki who had had a great season for us for the same price......

    Just two things:

Watmore as an impact sub would hardly terrorise defences that were not tired as they had been under employed against a lone Defore. He is still a raw talent and currently just about the only support player we have.

Rodwell can be classed as a "steady" player who acts a fireman for others shortcomings. I cast my memory back to Arsenal the season before last when we got the survival draw. A life-long Gunners fan's take on the game was that Rodwell man-marked Corzola and ensured he had no impact on the game. Rodwell barely got a mention that night but the opposition would rather he was not on the pitch. Too many times he has been left with a "damned for not" situation, but not through his doing.

Now he is cast as as the whipping boy for all our ills, including lucky rebounds.

Definately - he needs to be rested from 1st team action for a while. Maybe bring in Asora, Honeyman or Gooch
    But its Moyes call.

Yes unfortunately we often have at least one scapegoat player but it's a team game and some fans miss their off ball positional play for the team.

Like you just did on another thread scapegoating Rodwell(a defensive mid) and suggesting we replace him with Asosro(U23 striker) in the mist of him being one of our best players in the game in question. You're full of crap. From bottom to brim.

Not me scapegoating Rodwell -I think it was Monty
I think he should he dropped and sold or loaned as he needs regular 1st team football at a lower level like Gosling had at Bournemouth. He's way off pace and not premiership standard
But as I've posted its a load of crap from bottom to brim

You want to send a 10m senior player on loan to the lower leagues like a youth player. Way to shatter the blokes confidence. We want him to show confidence in his own ability, not make him question it more. Give Moyes the chance to work with him man. He's already showing signs of improvement. He was one of our better players on Monday night and you want to drop him and ostracise him from his team mates. How brutal.

I've heard he had a poor game against Everton - a bit clueless at times. Its for his own good as he's not up to speed mentally and our team can't afford passengers. As you know the match day crowd are not tolerant of below level performances - he's had plenty of chances and for £10million its not good enough - you seem to disagree or are just challenging my opinion.
Whatever, Rodwell is not in any Sunderland 1st team for me atm.
Hopefully Catts is back on Sunday

So you're delivering critique on a performance you haven't even seen. There's plenty of people who agree he improved further on his last game and is improving game on game. But you've clearly chosen to ignore those. I don't think we're in a position to write of 10m. He's improving. Kicking a dog while it's down is one thing but to kick it while it's getting up is well cruel.

Found it rich you scapegoating one post and moaning about scapegoating the next. Low and behold it's based around performances you haven't even seen. You're no better than a wum at times.

I find both of these acts equally cruel, people shouldn't be kicking dogs at all.

This is more or less what I think, the team needs to bond together and making too many unforced changes wont help, evolution is what we need, upheavals will take us down.
