Its Wolves. You haven't posted our foul count from last night. Can you get that done quickly as everyone is anxious to see how we did.

Had Shunderland increased their foul count it might of made their score better

    oh wait.....................

    STAT.jpg
seems like the only count that matters are the shots countn, shots on target count, followed by the goal count <ok>

Was that actually supposed to have any relevance to last night's game, or just some wistful philosophy you came up with at 6.15am this morning?

Cos there were no penalties :/

Yeah, we're clearly not in control of the situation and haven't adjusted to this level. On the positive side we did win 6-0 though, so we can at least console ourselves with that.

What is it about Newcastle supporters that makes them in constant denial of FACTS the fouls commited by Newcastle players over the end of last season and continued on to this season has on most occasions doubled that of their opposition, I do not know if it is an intruction from their trainer or simply incompetence and inability to play to the rules , but a fact it certainly is

Is that clarification enough, try taking your black and white glasses off

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that even UEFA have recognised that basic foul count is no reflection on how dirty a team is, and often only reflects how competitive a team is. A team that cannot get anywhere near the ball will often commit less fouls than a team who are dominating. That is why UEFA decided to withdraw the European places for the fair play league from European competitions.

A more accurate reflection of how dirty a team is (though still not perfect) is the number of yellow cards and red cards picked up by the team. This is more likely to reflect the number of bad fouls committed by the team. The number of cards issued last night.............

    ..............Zero!

It's a tactic to spoil opposition attacks which is used by all the best teams.

How's about you show some good grace and congratulate Newcastle on a fantastic win.

Yes Sunderland are playing in a higher league than us this year. It doesn't take away the basic facts about how you attempt to play football at the level you are playing - which was the point of the post you were replying to. I would tell you to take your red and white specs off - but that would probably leave you blind as a bat!

I would agree with you to a certain extent, as in taking a yellow for the team, but on a constant basis it suggests to me players are being beaten on a regular basis, and as such a bit of a worry, why did Sunderland commit more fouls than Everton, was it because Sunderland were in control of the game ?

Most of the fouls we committed last night were committed in the final third of the field while we were closing players down attempting to increase the pressure on the QPR defence. We could have taken the decision to just give them space and play he ball out unchallenged. Would that have been better football? In comparison, a team that is playing well will often have moved the ball on even as a challenge is coming in, often resulting in advantage being played and no foul being recorded. Which team would you say was playing the better football?

It is no easier to win a game at any particular level. I think you are getting confused about the difference between league games and cup games. A premier league team will face premier league opposition. Both teams will have the advantage of increased funding, better status and being seen as a more attractive prospect when attempting to sign players. How a club uses that power will be a reflection on how well they operate.

A championship club will have less purchasing power than a premier league club. That is reflected in the fact they will be playing against other championship clubs who will be in the same position. Again, how they each individually use that power will reflect on their clubs and will play a part in defining how well their season goes.

However, when it comes to cup games you are correct. A premier league team should have a massive advantage over a championship team. This theory will no doubt be proved when you face QPR in the cup and do much better than we did - as you should with the inherent advantages that you have.
